I want a revolver

For my purposes, revolvers will be judged primarily on two factors:
1. How cool they look 2. How big they are (which really just feeds into 1.)
I'm thinking about getting an 8 3/8" S&W .44 Magnum with a nice wooden grip.
Does anyone have a badass revolver they want to show off? Or recommendations...

Well I have a single revolver for those reasons. Plus, they don't jam, don't need a safety and their loud as fuck. It's a 38 though. Had a 44 once. Kicked like a mule. It split the skin between my thumb and index finger. Revolvers are only really practical for home defense and hunting. They're heavy, have a terrible trigger pull and mostly expensive to shoot. With the money you'd shell out for a Smith 44, you could get a nice automatic for the same amount. Automatics carry more rounds, easier trigger pull, shoot cheaper ammo(generally), and easier to conceal. You can get a used Glock or a new XD for the same scratch as the dirty Harry. I have two XD's. One in 45 w/2 13 round mags and a 40 sub compact w/12 round mags. See what I'm getting at. Revolvers will get the job done, but an auto will get it done many times over w/out reloading. You don't really want a Revolver now do you?

Actually, I do. I already have an xdm .40. I have all the practical weaponry I need. I just want a revolver for badassness. If it kicks like a mule, breaks your wrist, and costs $10, every time you shoot it, all the better. : ) Fuckit, maybe I'll go all the way and get a S&W .500...

Or a 454. casull or a Thompson Contender in 45/70 or 30/30! Always wanted one
http://www.tcarms.com/firearms/g2ContenderPistols.php#spec_charts
Awesomely badass and ridiculously large and expensive to shoot. And you could drop a mother fucker at 200 + yards easy! And, they have interchangeable barrels.
XDM nice!

Yeah, that's what I mean. .500 owns. What's the point of casull now? It just costs more and is less powerful...
They are pretty awesome but I want a revolver... : )

Can't go wrong with a S&W Model 29. Classic all the way
I'm also really fond of the S&W Model 329 PD, sharp looking revolver IMHO.
I've went to pick one up twice and walked out with some sort of 1911. I love revolvers but it seems every time I go to get a new one I end up with a auto.
My local gun shop lets me pick out what I want and then just pay for it as I can.I kinda wish they hadn't done that because it seems like I'm always paying for guns.

I love those old Iver Johnson guns! Very cool and collectible. My pop has one that shoots 38 shorts only. Very cool. Hard to find ammo for it though.

S&W 686 or 629, but you've probably already figured that out.
There's also the 329PD in .44 which looks pretty nice too.

I think that is a fine looking revolver. That may be my next purchase. My local gun shop has one on the shelf right now. I hate you dude, I'm gonna call them in the morning and tell them to put it in the safe.

it was actually given to me by this guy ive been doing alot of side work for lately. he found it out in his shed sometime after he bought the place. it was wrapped in a rag, and in a bag stuffed behind a wallboard. can you say throw away? lol. it must have been hidden out there for a while because the nickel plating was starting to flake off in some spots, the oil on it had congealed into a tarlike substance, i had to take it almost fully apart to clean it up. it isnt too pretty, but it still functions perfectly. cant beat that for a free gun.

I finally shot a .500S&W. After one shot, my hand was covered with bits of rubber from the grip. Wasn't so bad--it didn't hurt or anything.

For fun I'd get a 454, however if its ment to be practical get a calassic like a .38 S&W snubbnose. Compact, heavy so recoil is minimal and you could knock somebody out in one swing. Mine is old probably around 30 years and is like brand new. No hammer or saftey just the way I like it. Depending on your .38 you can use .357 rounds also.

.357 won't fit in a chamber for a .38. The case is too long but .38spc will fit in .357 chambers.
