It's Ileodictyon cibarium, a type of stinkhorn, the basket becomes free from the substrate and blows along the ground in the wind dispersing the spores, it is quite common in mulched woodchip gardens.
The Maori people have a myth explaining the sudden appearance of the fruit bodies, they say it is the droppings of ghosts!

its so hard to say, cordyceps are intriguing, the glowing ones are mindblowing , all the interesting stinkhorns, the werrora.......I dont know which is the best.
heres 2 nice Helvallas. 
and the schizophyllum s are crazy too! not just in the name but they have 28000 different sexes and can even form fruitbodies in your friggin nasal cavities!!

i grew up playing in the rogue river, if i understand this right, this is the only gilled mushroom ever found to grow underwater, and its only ever been seen in the rogue river in southern oregon.

its from oregon. you can find mushrooms anywhere there. this proves it . underwater fruiters are a new one for me.
cordyceps keep a balance for mother nature. maybe fungus are the true regulating force for mother nature. what if the human race grows beyond what she thinks is healthy for the world. MASS FUNGICIDE! hopefully its humane and tripy like ergot.

underwater fruiters are new for everyone. nobody has ever discovered any other underwater gilled mushroom, according to the article from southern oregon university.
i wonder if people are trying to grow that thing in labs or in other waters now. it makes me want to try to grow it in my pond, even though i know it wouldnt work

Squamanita paradoxa or (powdercap strangler)
an extremely rare fungus. It is a parasitic fungus that grows from another mushroom, the common widespread Cystoderma amianthinum.
