auweia, you are so right, tripping in nature sounds like the way to go. I thought my bedroom would be a good place because it was comfortable and familiar, but it ended up looking alien and foreign and to be honest quite scary. I also think that for me anyway, tripping at night wasn't the best thing to do. All the shadows and loneliness with nothing but my mind to keep me company meant that a reality check wasn't possible and I got further and further detached from reality without even knowing it. I didn't freak out or anything but i would probably describe the trip as a predominantly negative experience, though i don't regret doing it and will do it again soon.

If you mean what do people pay dealers for shrooms, anywhere from $1-$3 per mushroom.

Nothing if you leave your house and go for a hunt Shouldn't have to pay $ for shrooms, not really in the spirit of them

well done msanchez, what altitude did you find them at if you dont mind me asking? i think i may have to do a lot more forest searching this season! Are forest patches usually bigger than the woodchip patches?

Cheers mate. Found these from 750m - 1300m elevation, however when the season truly gets cranking in a month or so they can be found much lower down to 0m elevation. Found mine along the side of fire-trails, underneath eucalypt trees and amongst sub-alpine vegetation and debris.
Some woodchip patches can be huge and produce thousands of subs - hiking the mountain trails produces just as many if not more (if you know where to look) but involves a bit more walking/biking and a keen eye. I personally prefer hunting in the mountains, as the scenery is much more beautiful and interesting than any woodchip patch in the suburbs.

Just got back from a unsuccessful hunt, a bit of letdown. All I found was a few unknown species ( to me anyway) & Possum and Kangaroo shit, it's amazing how much you see hunting for subs. All my previous hunts were for cubes in cow paddocks but this is a totally different mission. Those photos are a good incentive to keep trying. I didn't even know what time of year to look until I found the forum.

I'm a newb and I can't start a thread yet, and I didn't want to hijack msanchez420's thread, but I do have a few pics. Is there anywhere I can post them ?

Hey mate, start up a new 'ID Request' thread on the main page of this forum (click the 'Post' button at the top of the page).
See below for a template that you can use for each mushroom species, fill in the blanks - you will get much quicker identification of your mushrooms.
e.g
ID Request:
Habitat: (Environment found in)
Gills: (colour etc)
Stem: (colour etc)
Cap: (colour etc)
Bruising: (Blue brusing, no bruising, etc)

Ok now it seems I have to get something to shrink a jpg - damn this vista crap, my mobile adaptor won't work under linux so I'm stuck with this retarded backward vista crap and drunk as well. Wheres the gimp when you need it ? Back in the morning.
msanchez420 Thanks for the help. I'm still drooling over your pics man. I'm tempted to steal one as an avatar but I'll use one of my half assed pics when I can finally shrink it.

No probs mate. If you are looking for software to resize your photos in Vista maybe try 'VSO Image Resizer' Download Here
+ If you want a pic as an Avatar it's cool with me
