Turning in an old paper at a different school

SWIM has an assignment to do a research paper for his Undergrad English class in the University. It's open-topic research.
SWIM also took an english class two years ago at a community college in a different city/state. Now he wants to reuse one of the old papers since he is such a busy guy. He hopes this will give him time to focus more on more important things in his life right now.
Nonetheless, he is a little worried. What are the chances he could get caught? (He doesn't remember having to turn the old paper into any service such as turnitin.com).

Go for it. If you get caught just tell the teacher that you must have clicked on a different paper.

I don't think there's any way you can get caught if you didn't do turnitin.com or any other online source. Your other paper is probably sitting in the trash somewhere, being recycled, or in the older teachers office @ home.
The chances are extremely slim, swim.

Yes, they say that doing this sort of thing is called "self-plagiarism." That's ok, I won't sue me. hahaha. Seems like teachers will just bend ethics in order to maximize the amount of work a student does.
As for actual plagiarism, I can make good use of a Guy Debord quote: "Ideas improve. The meaning of words participates in the improvement. Plagiarism is necessary. Progress implies it. It embraces an author's phrase, makes use of his expressions, erases a false idea, and replaces it with the right idea."

I wouldn't do it... your teacher probably frequents this forum and will read this thread.

tell your teacher that you have a "friend" lets call him SWIM who wants to use a research paper from a different class for the assignment in his class. Then see what your teacher says. You could also ask what the chances are of said student getting caught using said paper, assuming he didn't use turnitin.com

This is not true. Many universities worldwide now have their own plagiarism software which doesn't require students to submit material through an online system. However, since the paper is your own and I assume you have checked if it isn't online somewhere, the chances that it is in any of the plagiarism databases out there are slim, and so are the chances of getting caught.
Having said that, the paper itself is obviously not the essence of the task, it is the writing itself in the context of this particular assignment. It's up to you to decide what to do. I'd probably rewrite it myself, but that's personal.

Solution: Paraphrase your work.
If you fail because of this.....sue on the basis of Freedom of Speech.

The chances are unlikely. Obviously, you can UTSE to check if it's been posted. Or you could pay some girl at school to do it for you since papers on the internet aren't a very good idea since some teachers have extra search capabilities for these particular behaviors.

Many schools may still see that as academic dishonesty. It really depends on the academic and plagiarism policies of each school.

You're not learning anything if you keep turning in the same work. I agree.
