So finally got our first growth of the year today. It was a new patch, one found by a friend walking his dog.

Some pictures,

The darker more water-logged mushrooms on the left, did they eventually bruise?

I've found a lot of mushrooms that look like that, but still don't bruise blue at all after a good 20mins.

:awesomenod:

Yeah mate, made sure I tested them all before picking them. They were quite 'overdue' and the black spore droppings left upon each others cap was a great indicator also. Thanks for your concern though :smile:

Went for a hunt today with no luck. Even my usual patch isnt sprouting. Did find some pretty crazy purple fellas though. Anyone know what these are?

I think those are probably Cortinarius archeri. They are very cool :cool:

They were all solitary but i'm sure if i keep searching i will find the motherload :smile:

I have to thank you johnny_p, without your post's I would've never thought to check around Sydney :thumbup::thumbup:

naw shucks :blush: No worries mate, glad to help :wink::thumbup:
Most of my patches are like that too, all solitary shrooms. Only in one of my old patches and this new patch have i seen them cluster together so profusely.

Well, I had a little hunt today and found three very large subs (yeeew!).

What was a little scary however, was how many other mushrooms were growing that looked so similar to subs, but once I got closer the color didn't look quite right and they didn't bruise blue (or any color actually).

Most other times I had been hunting years ago the only ones that I noticed that looked similar were the Stropharias and Galerina. It just shows how important it is to be well read and informed, and be thorough with your bruising and spore print tests :smile:

The three big subs were sitting very close to hundreds of these horrible looking things...what are they, if you don't mind me asking? (found under pine trees, near a river gushing with storm water run-off, around tall grass, and some minimal eucalyptus leaves/mulch)

Theres a ton of them around my patches too. Those are what i think are Agrocybes - though I have no idea why i think that and am probably completely wrong :lol:

Nice finds guys :thumbup:

Just posted this in another thread, thought it might be useful for some of you + those interested:

Psilocybe subaeruginosa variability + Appearance

Lots of variables when it comes to Subaeruginosa - Environment, moisture, substrate, maturity... Plenty to keep us interested :thumbup:

Here are a bunch of photos I have taken of different looking Subs, check out my user gallery for a ton more photos:

Enjoy :mushroom2::mushroom2::mushroom2:

Nice Pics Sanchez! You are hands down THE MAN!:bow2:

Could you post them in the Melbourne thread too...
Lots of noobs over there could use this reference.

Especially since there's been some eating of the
unidentified shroom happening lately.:bored::poison:
Trolls or not it's still a worry.

Next to dead stuff in long grass. I'm pretty sure they grow out of the grass, but there could be dead twigs and leaves at the bottom, the grass is too long to see, i never look.

Hey guys, I've been lurking for a while, attempting my first hunting season. Would you be able to ID these two for me.

I found a massive patch of the brown mushroom on thistles. I've been offered them before actually, but yeah, no bruising. I'm working on a spore print. The red/caramel I've seen in leaf litter in a few places. That group was in the open next to a footpath, again, no bruising. The second I would assume are Galerinas or something like that but the first I have no idea.

Thanks for any help. ( :crazy: Illawarra region)

Nice. They kinda look like Panaelous. It's probably just the quality of the photo.
