you're assuming science won't progress any further. which would put you in the same position as those 13th century scientists.

I don't MEAN to put words in his mouth rather. The debate on whether aliens are tall and skinny with big heads is the funny one. Panspermia makes sense, but what doesn't make sense is why they would have evolved to look almost identical to humans after millions of years of evolution in a different environment than ours. That would imply that evolution has a set path, which contradicts the theory(fact) of evolution in itself.

No you misunderstood me. I'm not dismissing anything at all that way of thinking is anythin BUT scientific. I'm simply going by the chance of claim X based on the ammount of supporting evidence claim X has. For example: it is now safe to assume that lighting is created by thunderstorm(won't go into detail for obvious reasons) and not from sues because he's pissed off and feels like fucking with the human species. This is the best we have so far as to where lightning comes from so we must believe it to be true until it is shown to be false OR a theory with more supporting evidence comes along.
That's how science works and that's why it's so beautiful

That would imply that evolution has a set path, which contradicts the theory(fact) of evolution in itself.
The only way i could see an alien life form developing similar to ours is through similar ways that we developed. I.e rock and stick and branch clasping - > development of opposable thumbs. (thats not to say they won't have mitten-like hands) Tool development and use - > mechanical development of a body, size shape etc of muscles or whatever it is that is used to control things in that manner. - > peripheral developments like fingers finer tool use and work.
gravitational differences could lead to why ETs on one planet might be skinny as, and why we are the way we are on earth. Mind you their astronauts could be like that from spending all that time in zero-g anywho.
To me its all just phsyics and behaviour put together anywho that determines how a creature will look further down its evolutionary path, throwing in natural selection etc of course (stating the obvious i know).
Tool use seems much more favourable to having appendages that can clasp, lift, and throw (i.e an arm, supporting mechanics i.e chest and back, balance, i.e symmetry and core). So i can definately see how intelligence life may develop similar to us.
Though I am making assumptions that intelligence had to develop from using what ever is in the environment to make life easier. But it makes sense to me like that, at least in what i consider intelligence to be. I dunno maybe they do shit through telekinesis, god knows where they would borrow the energy from to do that though, light? i dunno.
To keep inline with the physical argument. I agree with you that time travel, crazy distance space travel is kinda impossible. Even at light speed it can take stupid amounts of time to travel between bodies in space. I kinda assume that any ETs that travel here, or have travelled here in the past, would've need to be pretty close enough to get here in a decent amount of time without breaking the laws of physics, Either that or they're native to earth. Though all sorts of things come to mind, like panspermia, cryogenics etc...

Too bad we can't create life and master macroevolution on a long-term scale or we could test how life evolves in different environments. If life can only evolve to the point of "intelligent" organisms while in an earth-like environment then my guess would be that it would look similar to a species that has lived here on earth.

UFO reports are not necessarily caused by visits from space travelers. The phenomenon could be a manifestation of a much more complex technology. If time and space are not as simple in structure as physicists have assumed until now, then the question "where do they come from?" may be meaningless; they could come from a place in time. If consciousness can be manifested outside the body, then the range of hypotheses can be even wider.

I have pointed out that the concept current among most flying-saucer enthusiasts that the unidentified flying objects are simply craft used by visitors from another planet is naive. The explanation is too simple-minded to account for the diversity of the reported behavior of the occupants and their perceived interaction with human beings. Could this concept serve precisely a diversionary role in masking the real, infinitely more complex nature of the technology that gives rise to the sightings?

Bros;
The speed of light constant argument against these beings visiting here is flawed. I can think of ways around it of the top of my head... Planet hopping, inter-dimensional beings, discovery of new physics/ways around the light barrier, beings being from nearby planets or even under earths surface. The possibility is endless.
As beings evolving to be humanoid. Very possible, considering the conditions for life fall within a small band as far as science currently knows. We are looking for Earth like planets to hold life and Earth like planets will hold life similar to Earth. Its arguable that humanoid types could possibly develop on these planets as standard and this doesn't have to go against the theory of evolution for that to be possible.
The theory of evolution and the theory of relativity are not claimed to be complete anyway and modern day scientists realize that they are more complicated...
In evolution we realized that many branches of the evolution happened along side each other hence the problem with the idea of finding the "missing links".
With relativity Einstein himself said it wasn't complete and today we are looking for the unified theory to link relativity with quantum physics so that it actually makes sense as a theory to everything we are observing in this universe. It fits the pattern but only so far, this proves the theory is incomplete.

It is stupid for an even more obvious reason. I don't understand how everyone here is not aware of the fact that our existence is scientifically impossible. Movement, a large part of our existence is physically impossible.
Explanation: To go from one point to another first you must go half the distance. and before you can get half way you must go half of that distance, and then half again and so on... this logical pattern is infinite. Meaning that to move at all we have to travel an infinite series of points in a finite time, which is impossible. Moving your hand is a phenomena unexplainable with our current knowledge of the physics of the universe.

the further you go out "into space", i.e. "away from gravity", the more time speeds up. we're not sure precisely how much, because it's relative, and no human as far as we know has ever experienced such a thing.
