(Maz,TC,PESA,Lamai Beach)/ log ***Completed***

Well this is the 2nd attempt at cakes. My dog had great results the first time around and scored loads of mushies... This time with more confidence He is continuing with great success with the basic methods...
STRAINS: He and his friend went in an got 4 varieties total from (THE) The Hawks Eye, but for the sake of his sanity started the Mazatepec and Treasure coast first and 3 weeks later started the other 2, PESA and Lamai Beach.
MIX: BRV in half pint jars.
TEK: PF TEK Boiled half pint jars for an hour and super cooled in the winter air. Innoculated through punched holes in lids with syringe. Covered with foil and put back into the box for incubation.
Incubation and extra TEK used: After incubating in the jars for the better of 5 weeks +. Birthday was a easy process. He then directly cold shocked and dunked simutaneously in BIG ziplock bags. He then placed the cakes into the ziplocks and filled with water, squeezing out the remaining air. They went into the fridge overnight and then were placed into the terrarium.
The terrarium setup also very basic, has worked pretty well for him. 1/2 inch perlite coating the bottom of a clear plastic terrarium. He cut out the lid and attacthed a clear baking tray on the top to allow light to come directly from the window into the setup. This seems to make the mushies grow more straight and fruit pretty quickly. Though never trying anything else this is only an assumption.
Though his only problem is the build up of the mycelium on the base of the shrooms. Seems to be localized and not wandering up the stems. So I am not worried at this point, but suggestions as to solving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
He will let the pics do the rest of the talking...
This pic below was taken about 10 hours from the last one. What a difference it makes in a few hours.. This cake is out of control.... But in a good way... What do you guys think??
This pic below is of a few Treasure Coast cakes that have begun to pin. Looks like a few big fatties will come of these beauties... The mazatepec has slacked off some and are regrouping for another round I suppose.. The PESA and Lamai Beach are almost 100% colonized in the jars and will be ready for dunking soon...

After his long weekend here are a few pretty nice pics of the Treasure Coast in all its shroom glory.. I like these pics.

Something Interesting happened with this Mazatepec cake!
When he left for the weekend, it was growing immense pins on the bottom, so he turned it over... The ither dog looked one day and noticed it was getting pins on the other side near the bottom.. So what to do? He split the cake in half and put them both facing up. And look at these pin sets! Nice observation by the dogs friend!!!!! And I think the separation anxiety caused some gnarly looking mutants... Close up below...
Here a few days later, the half with the nice pinset is at maturity and ready for harvest... I thought I would put up these couple pics, as they are a dense set for a cake that was flipped over and then split... Maybe there is something to that...
Top View
This is his first real casing..
STRAIN: Mazatepec cakes, sliced and layered.
TEK: 50/50 casing... (They didn't have Vermiculite, so it was cased with Jiffy Mix, Peat and a small amount of Lime.)
Jiffy mix is a mixture of Vermiculite, Peat and Lime already. So he mixed some fresh peat and lime just to expand upon it, keeping relatively the same concentration. We will see...
This is after 4 days covered with foil, and then put it in the aquarium. Should he patch the mycelium breaking through and cover again or just let it go now??
Should he COLD shock this casing?? This is what it looks like today.....
Here a few updates of the Casing of Mazatepec. he also cased 3 cakes of PESA and am going to case 3 cakes of Lamai Beach this afternoon.. Hope everyone is doing well and up to their gills in fungus.... Peace Groovy

Pics of the first flush off the Mazatepec casing.. What do you guys think???

Here is an update of the casings.. The PESA casing is coming along very nicely, and the mazatepec is getting ready for the 2nd flush. He decided to deep scratch the mazatepec casing after the first flush. It looked like a warzone after picking off the first flush. He is going to get a weight on that by the way soon. Today He pushed the casing layer a bit and it had many many pins under It.
The latest on the casings! There is 3 casings here, the two smaller ones are PESA. The large casing is the mazatepec. The second flush was nice! Not as huge as the first flush, but the fruits were quite a bit bigger. So it was a trade off, nice size but less quantity.... The PESA casing here is pinning like mad. He is anxious to see what these babies will grow up to look like..

A day later....
Here are the mature pictures of the first flush of PESA. He had a few pretty cool mutants pop up... Man these PESA are strong as hell.. He had a total mind melt down after taking in 5 grams dry of these babies... The trip was awesome.. Very visual and and very powerful... It was so much different than the mazzies.. He said over all, he enjoyed the spiritual trip of the mazatepec a little more... But the power of these PESA'S are something 2...
Only 2 cakes left... He didn't case the treasure coast because they were doing fine with the cakes... Putting off big fruits.. Here is the last 2 mushies these cakes produced... The cap was bigger than the whole cake... Nice!!!!

welp u might wanna move that into the grow log. good gro bro. also fixing that problem is not necessary. its just the mush's naturaul reaction to high humidity.

You definitely should do a grow log. Try casing you cakes with some pasteurized or microwaved peat/vermiculite and lime mix.
The mycelium growing up the mushrooms is normal. Don't sweat it, though you may be too humid.

Thanks all.... Wasn't sure if I should start a log or not... Is there anyway to move this tread without starting another? Im glad the creeping Mycelium is cool.. I wasn't sweating it to much, I will try and fan more often.
The color difference is the mature shrooms that capped already versus the the ones still pinning. The mature ones are lighter in color. The Treasure Coast are starting to pin now and will put up those pics in a few days as they become more prominent... Will be cool to see the difference in variety as they are growing side by side..

very impressive pinset there. most peoples cakes seem to fruit mostly toward the bottom, your pins are all over! I usually cut em in half ("wafer tek" i believe??)place the cakes on a moist layer of verm to increase bottom growth. super grow. keep us posted.

First off thanks for the nice comments...
So you think moist vermiculite placed on the bottom will improve pinset on the bottoms?? I remember the first time I grew, I poked holes in the bottoms of all the foil squares the cakes sat upon. The cakes actuallly grew pseudo roots right through the holes and into the perlite water mix below. I was thinking of doing this again and seeing what happens..
Maybe I will do half with the holes and half with the moist verm and see what comes of it..
I harvested the first flush from that cake and came up with over 30 shrooms. Now lets hope the rest of my cakes produce similiar results..
Updated pics to come soon.. the TC have HUGE pins on them. Cant wait to see them in comparison..
Till then..

Geeesh... alright alright twist my arm! I will eat em this weekend... A few pals and I are getting together, so a night will be had by all... I am excited to see what the mazatepec is like... My first time, I had Thai Lipa Yai and I really wasn't to thrilled with its all around trip..... Was kind of speedy and had me under the covers waiting for goblins.. That is how I felt anyway.. So the spiritual side of Mazzies I hope will fare better the the thai...

Ok... Well first, I have to say I have tried many shrooms... Usually the ones I picked myself in the cow fields. I have tried other peoples home grown shrooms also... And from my experience the trips have all been different from the type of shroom.. I think though psilocybin is the same chemical make up in every cubensis, I think its effects are different in a way of intesity, spirituality and duration. Not every variety will produce same trip, sorry man..

I agree. deprave, i've had many different types of shrooms too. And i've had completely different trips from them all. All shrooms will not produce the same type of trip.

Alright look forward to reading your trip report! What ever you do have a great time,if you haven't ever tried shrooms I would start with 1-2 grams at first. I gram might be not much if anything for some...but the first time I tripped was on around 1 gram dried, maybe 1.5 at the most and I tripped ballz for a good 6 hours! It was a realy spiritual trip,we were camping in the woods on a full moon so that may have been why but...ahh,it was so fun! Good luck!

all shrooms contain the same active chemicals, you may say one is different than another... but it all comes down to set and setting my friend. also particual brain chemistry can vary from week to week, causing certain compounds to affect you differently.

Dam your first cakes poooped on mine lol Looking dam good m8
The different mushroom trips thing must have something in it as its gota be like smoking different weed strains. You get used to one so you swap and wolla your stoned again This is due to different mixes of cannabols so i see no reason why different mushroom strains dont produce slightly differing chemical amounts making them either more visaual or more spiritual.
but i have limited experiance with home grow cubensis so lets find out

Well.... I agree that all shrooms have the same chemical and will produce similiar results, but I tend to agree with ganja on this subject.
I have tripped before, sorry that sounded like I meant never.... Just for this set I havn't tried them..
Anyway, as GANJA said... And I have also experienced, that different shrooms will produce different effects.. There is no research that I have read that says all shrooms have exact same chemical make up.. That is false.... Without even knowing what the make up is.. I believe they have different results regardless of time, place, mood etc.. Yeah that is a big part of having a successful and happy go lucky trip. But like every drug, it varies with every dose..
This is an interesting subject and I would love to see some research articles on some tests runs..... or some of you who want to speak upon the subject....
Groovy
ps thanks for the shrooms by my name.... Whoever gave me the ratings... Sweet.. Get ya back... Good karma..

There is no doubt in my mind that different strains make a trip different. Because i've done shrooms about 5 times in my life. And each time has been VERY different. And i'm not speaking of differences that might have been caused by different potency. The trips have been equally as strong but completey DIFFERENT trips. I've had shrooms that not only made me see things twist and turn, but i felt my mind twisting and turning. I've had shrooms that didn't produce much visuals but the body trip was more intense than any other trip i've had, the trip almost resembled an MDMA high. I've had shrooms that made me feel so drunk it was hard to walk around. I don't know the science on the subject, however, i refuse to believe that every shroom strain acts like "the same drug". Personal experince proves that theory wrong in my mind . But maybe my brain reacts differently than others.

UPDATE 1/29/03 Trip Report and Casing Pics.... [Re: pillsbury420]

UPDATE 1/29/03 Trip Report and Casing Pics(check first post)....
Well after a beautiful night and one very beautiful day... I am here to let you know about the trip report.....
It all began at 9:30 pm... 2 friends and I looked over the bags of Treasure Coast and Mazatepec.. All 3 of us decided to try mazzies, mostly to stay on the same level.. With no scale between the 3 of us, we decided to just start munching.. I said to the both of them (who are experienced in shrooms..) , to take what they please as long as they know what your limit is.. I took about 3 grams or so... Not having experienced mazatepec before I was a little weary of how powerful these little guys would be..
30 mins into the trip : I felt a feeling of energy, especially around my face and cheeks... I knew I was in for a nice time.. It hit me quickly as opposed to the roomies... They had eaten earlier and I had not.. I actually didn't eat much that day, or the day before in preparation for a nice journey.
1hr into the trip : sudden visuals appeared.... I felt a feeling of overwhelming happiness... We decided collectively to go outside for a journey through the midnight woods... With a dim flashlight in hand we were off.. With a little encouragement the others decided to follow... hehehehee... I was amazed to find the ground disappear beneath me. I was walking on sticks, leaves and plants.... They all seemed to blend together... Finally we reached the lake and found ourselves gazing over a beautiful site.. The lake was frozen but it took a stick thrown out upon the water to convince me this is what I was seeing.. It was moving through my eyes but still and silent at the same time.. I admired the trees and noticed the way the hung there like skeletons in the winter air.. Their frail branches seems to intertwine and move in pattern with each other.. The stale air added to this effect and I was caught in the middle experiencing it all...
2hrs in: Back at the ranch all 3 of us had become engulfed in the discovery channel.. The visuals were really starting to affect us.. Speech started to become difficult.. My buddy turned to me and starting telling me a whole story and I sat there and listened. I found myself wondering what is he talking about. I heard him say blah bla bu blah bu bah bah.. I nodded acknowledging what he was saying almost comprehending what he just said and then bursted into laughter... We all got a good chuckle as it was completely understood that we could not make out what we were saying but it was ok....
3hrs in: Visuals were tapering down to flashes of colors.. I was seeing hues of blue and reds. I began to feel relaxed and took in the whole journey. Things became more clear and understanding.
4hrs in and come down: The come down was nice.. Very smooth and mellow and left with a great feeling of well being. I wanted to achieve a level 4 trip and could have gone a little further. I think I will go with 4 or 5 grams next time. These were cake shrooms and have heard that sometimes the casings put off more potent specimens.. I will soon find out. All in all I rate these mazzies 4.5 out of 5 on the overall journey.
The next day I was left with nothing but smiles and can't wait to try again...

Did everyone give up on my log?? Well if anyone is still lurking here are the photos of the first flush off the mazatepec casing.. Not bad for first try at casing.. The PESA casing is coming along nicely and should start pinning in few days.. I learned from the first one how to keep an even layer and patching to produce a nicely covered casing.. Hope it comes out as well as this mazzie did...
Peace, Groovy

Still waiting on the measuring device for the weights.. In the meantime, I posted a few more of my casings going nicely. 4 total casings, 2 PESA, 1 Lamai Beach, 1 Mazatepec. The PESA is fruiting now, the mazatepec is on the 3rd flush and the Lamai Beach is getting ready to pin.
How was everyones weekend?? Anything interesting going on in the world?

Yah the maz is pretty resilient. How are the size of your fruits? My size is increasing with each flush, but the quantity is going down. Seems like this is normal for most casings.. With less pins feeding on the network, the fruits increase in size I bet..
My pesa casing is looking like a bad ass.. Nice thick fruits! Updated a pic today 2.

Update today on the PESA casing and one treasure coast cake, I was pretty happy to see all the fruits doing so well.... At the moment I have a time lapse photography set up of the Thai Lamai Beach casing. It's fruiting pretty nicely, I hope it turns out well... That will complete this long grow log.. I hope you all are still checking in to see the progress.....

P.S. I wanted to give a shout out to T.H.E. (The Hawks Eye) for the spores.. Very dependable and a super nice guy. Thanks Ryche

Great job, by the way what was the dry weight of your first flush, for the casing?

Ok, so I finally had the dog get off his bed and go weigh his fruit. So for the mazatepec first flush it came to around 35 grams dry. The PESA casing put off almost 30 grams dry. Still to come is another PESA on its first flush, the second PESA casing on its second, and the Lamai Beach casing, under the time lapse set up..

Good luck Pillsbury420 I'll send some good karma your way. I think I fixed that link Ganja.. Hope you got to see it.. Pretty cool video.. The dog harvested the second flush from the PESA casing, and it was nice! Also the smaller PESA casing produced mad fruit.. See ya all around....
