Zero FAE during colonization is good, you shouldn't even open it to take pictures. I still don't see primordia just ariel myc, but the uncolonized spots could be a problem it is too soon to tell. Just leave it be for a while don't even look at it for a few days.

Yea, no primordia. I just re knowledged myself on the defenition. I was told that a "fan" of mycelium growth is considered Primordia. Nevertheless, thanks for the advice. Its's only been 7 days so I think it will fully colonize fine. How are the patches caused? How do I avoid? What kind of problem can it cause? Also, can anyone address the condensation questions?

it's worked for some, though your results will be poor. Brown rice owns white rice in the nutrient dept. maybe try another store? If you can't find brown rice at all, try supplementing with coffee grounds.

Just get brown rice and grind it with a coffee grinder and make BRF.

I'm about to grow for the first time but am inable to buy spores or obtain live specimens. is it possible to create my own spore syringe using dried shrooms? i've heard you can use the dust off them to inoculate.

Possible but not recommended. Chances are that you'll be fighting contaminants the entire time. Your best bet is to find a vendor that will ship to you or trade/buy from somebody here.

i'm growin for my first time and I used a pressure cooker. ....But I released the pressure wayyyy before it had cooled down. All the steam came flying out.
Is this a big problem? Because the guide said if I did this then the moisture would boil out of the substrate...?

Need advice on growing mushrooms [Re: Nibin]

Hi guys, This is the first time I have posted something on shroomery.org so i am hoping to find out what i need know here, somebody see if they can help me out. I have successfully grown psilocybe cubensis before and didn't have any problems with it. After trying again I failed so naturally I continued to try. I ended up picking up Hawaiian cubensis and got them successfully into the terrarium. They have been there for two weeks now and for some reason I still have no pin-heads. Humidity is high, temperature is between 70-75, they get plenty of light per day as they are in a window and still i get nothing. Is there some small detail that i am over-looking here as to why they are not initiation mushrooms? Is Hawaiian naturally a hard strain to grow or something? Is it possible they are getting to much light? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -babaganoush2307

More fresh air will do the trick! Fan your terrarium for 30 seconds five times per day.
Did you know that P. cubensis doesn't even grow naturally in Hawaii? Just thought I'd throw that little marketing factoid out there!

I am confused and I was hoping one of you could clear something up for me.
When the tek at the front of this thread says 2 parts vermiculite, 1 part BRF and 1 part water, does this mean these are actually 50% verm, 25% BRF and 25% water in whatever size container?
I know this sounds stupid, but the help would be appreciated.

Should have mentioned that I fan them on a regular to so I don't think that is the problem...I just feel like I am doing everything right and not getting any results. If you got any other tips for me I will take them, I am trying to get these done before a up-coming festival. And thank you by the way for the fun fact, had no idea that they didn't grow naturally in Hawaii! -babaganoush2307
