Electric LC Land - Vortex Question

I've got a heavy duty magnetic stirrer, but there is some noise from it, and I don't want to use electricity to run it constantly if an hour or two a day is just as good.
Does anyone have data on how much electric stirring improves LC growth? Is it necessary to have it whirling 24/7, or is a few minutes a day enough to keep the myc in an exponential phase? Is it possible to slow culture growth with too much spinning?

Yes, a mason jar or baby bottle with a few marbles will work, just give it a shake every now and then. I am trying to maximize growth to expand my cultures, and am looking for the optimal situation. I got a commercial stirrer off ebay, and want to balance use of it versus electrical consumption. Am also curious as to whether getting it up to vortex speed is better (gas exchange, etc), or if there is such a thing as too fast.

i don't put any marbles or glass or anthing like that in there. i just shake. sometimes there r clumps that r to big to suck up but it works. it may not be optimal though.
