Dunno if it's better than the first, because that was so new, but it definately isn't worse. The multiplayer's good, and playing as a Daddy gives it a cool change. The world is just as convincing. It's pretty darn good really

Yeah this game is awesome just as I thought it'd be. Especially using Nvidia's 3D Vision, adds a really creepy atmosphere

I don't think the first one had multiplayer...
Graphics seem better in this one too.

I'm loving this one so far. Its much heavier on glow effects, improved water effects, and more embossing. So it looks much more "wow" then the last one. I love the plot but I don't care for the new hacking system or that they took out the creepy voice overs for the vending machines.
Definitely a fave in my books.

I agree.
I find myself exploring every nook and cranny of each area before I move on. I never do that with any other games.
I'm about to smoke some JWH and play it in a little bit here.

Did that last night...goddamn it was awesome.
Speaking of exploration...the only other game I dug that deep was Fallout 3. Just so much detail and so many nooks. I'm really impressed by the game so far and hearing Andrew Ryans voice has me wondering. I'm interested to see where this freaky cult thing that's going on in Rapture this time around.
Fallout: New Vegas Fall 2010. I can't wait! Thank god Bioshock 2 came out now...give me time to soak in an awesome game until the next one shows. Hopefully Diablo 3 will wait a while after fallout so I can jump to the next one like this setup.

Either all these people who are renting/buying this game and hating it are either too young to appreciate these fine details or have no appreciation for ambience, environment a novel like story to follow instead of the last 7 years of copy of a copy of a copy of FPS madness without rhyme or reason.
This is a novel/ambience/story based game. Not pointless slaughter like the the majority of FPS's to date. With how few heavy story single player games that even still exist these days, its nice to have something like Bio unlike the unoriginal crap that has been spewing out of the developers for the last 7 years. No less the garbage that have been filling our consoles which some are even worse *cough* Prototype *cough*.
They barely have anything even outside goddamn FPS's and Sports games on consoles now. It hurts my head to even rant about it. Were stuck with emulators to actually enjoy games that aren't walk around splatter matches with screaming people.

i'm not liking it because the big daddy isn't stronger then your player in bs1. so he's essentially a weak, slightly quicker moving version of all the other big daddies. *shrug* where's the contrast?
the levels are boring and straight forward, barely any exploring to be done. and the rooms are ridiculously generic, no love went into any of the details like they did in #1.
Bioshock was a great game, this sequel is subpar so far in my experience, but i'm only half way through.

I may eat my words...or I may follow them. I haven't played -too- far yet. Only a couple hours.
So we'll see...but the visuals are awesome. The story is slightly lacking compared to the first by a bit...so I agree somewhat there.

My boyfriend got the collector's edition. WOW that is a monster of a collector's edition. It came in a huge rubber case, has a vinyl of the first Bioshock's soundtrack, has a CD of the new soundtrack, has this sweet hardcover art book, has 3 lithograph propaganda posters, and the game of course. I've played it a little bit on the story and multi and I like it. It's much more challenging than the first game and the multi is pretty fun. Overall I say 9 out of 10.
