I like me some weed, but like a lot of people, it often gets me anxious.
Recently I discovered (essentially by accident) that if I smoke some tobacco with my weed, anxiety becomes practically a non-issue.
Therefore, I've decided to (as an experiment) switch my smoking habits from pipe use to spliffs, and see if that works as well as I hope.
In the past I've rolled and smoked spliffs with Top brand tobacco, and I was neither disappointed nor impressed.
So: anyone got a favorite brand of rolling tobacco?
I'm lookin' to buy some this week, and I want to know what you guys think is the best product.
I don't care if it's kinda expensive, 'cause I'm only gonna be using it so much.

i like adding cherry pipe tobaco. some time you gotta dry it out a bit/ or if your an expert roller like me you can just roll em a little loose and they smoke good.

You know, I was wondering about pipe tobacco.
I don't really know anything about tobacco, so I wasn't sure if there's a good reason that pipe tobacco is for pipes and rolling tobacco is for rolling.
Obviously you see pipe tobacco as rollable -- what's the difference?
Is it stronger?
Tastier?
Harsher?
Or just a matter of opinion?
BTW I know google could prob'ly set me up good with this answer, but I'm gonna ask anyway:
When you say cherry, is that a flavor or a brand?

So far my fav rolli g tobbacco ive tried and smoke myself is balishag. It's a very nice full flavored strong nic kick halfzware shag rolling tobbaco. The blue blend is Kentucky and virgina tobacoo amd has such a nice earthy aroma amd flavor to it. My fav and the red blend is virgina and orient tobacco and is very smooth. More than the blue , with a lighter yet more average tobbaco flavor where as the blue is more unieqe to Bali shag. But the red is still way more flavorfullthan any other normal virgina blendtobacco. And has a huge nic kick wish is sRange kus usualy the more nic the less smooth. One thing I love about Bali is it's always very fresh and moisttobbaco wich adds to flavor and quality. For spliff I used to hate em untill I used Bali shag and trust me I've tried all types. But with the flavor of the Bali red wich is what I use for spliffs I love em now . Just make shure to mix up the herb and backy real well kus it's a diff cut tobbaccco a little more fine so it's a must to mix it up with ur fingers real well. I hope I can help u out. Pipe tobbaco is like cigar tobbaco and is not ment for inhailing so rolling with that would be a nono in my book. Would make u sick and not enjio the high kus ud be sooo light headed

no way! not at all like cigar tobbaco. it is unbelievably smooth and super mellow. it has great flavor too, and the smell is amazing. if anything regular rolling tobbaco is far far more harsh.

Another thing about balishag is it isn't treated in all those chemicals those name brands are to change the nicotine into freebase nicotine wich make u get that very intence short rush from that freebase nicotine they have in cigs like camel and brands like that wjere the Bali shag isn't treated and is natrul so It dosnt have all those chems init that make it free base and those 1000s of other chems to make it burn better N what ever else they say helps mAke it enjoy able. Bali is 100percent natrul so the nicotine hits u slow and relaxing not fast intence like those free base ones so with spliffs I find them a great tobaco becouse u cN relax and enjoi the flavor and not get alllight headedand spinnyfrom the freebasenic they have in those other shit. I used to like making spliffs out of Bugler tobacco but IMO it's a bad idea to risk getting addicted to tobacco just because the anxiety of the weed is unpleasant.

Rolling tobacco is disgusting when mixed with weed imo. It overpowers the cannabis taste and aroma.
Buy a box of cigs and use half/three quarters of a cig per joint.
Any ones will do so long as they're not too strong. Marlboro lights work well.
Edit: I've smoked joints for 6 years every day give or take about a 6 month break and I have no urge to smoke cigarettes.

Of course someone around always has a cig to salvage, but IMO that's the poor man's way to spliff.
And cigarettes really do have a shit-ton of narsty chemicals in 'em, so if there's some rolling stuff that's genuinely natural, I'm more than willing to sacrifice my weed's flavor to avoid synthetic death-juice.

I wouldn't agree. I only smoke a joint or two a day so usually less than two cigs.

And the blue pack of drum sumone just showed is the same type and cut of the Bali shag blue but the drum has more of a robust nutty Lille flavor to it. Drum is Bali shahs number one competitor. But for a first timer or sumone just starting out. I'd go with the Bali blue. Some might not like the robustness of drum. Hope I can help hombre

I either use Norwegian shag or good 'ol marlboro reds. I might add that I rarely smoke weed by itself these days, I dunno .

I'd never in a million years knowingly smoke a cigarette on its own. The smell and taste is revolting plus it does nothing.
But...tobacco goes well with weed. Smoking joints doesn't always lead to smoking cigs. If you don't like them on their own,you don't like them.

Bali Shag is good if you like to spliff your j's with cigarette tobacco. Some pipe tobacco can make great spliffs as well, if it is a blend with quite a bit of flue cured virginia it will burn pretty well, especially when dried out a bit. Pipe tobacco is picked when the leaves have more sugar in them, whereas most cigarette tobaccos are picked when the plant alkalinity rises so the nicotene is more available to your lungs (or so I've been told).
That being said, most pipe tobacco's have some sort of condiment tobacco; an oriental variety or maybe perique, the second of which typically has enough nicotene in it to make me throw up if I spliff too heavily with a perique blend.
I don't spliff joints too often, but when I do it is typically with a cigarette tobacco. You will find yourself craving nicotene after a while, so be careful.

I like tobacco when I'm hanging out & smokin' weed (cigars and hookah -- probably pipe, too, if I ever get around to trying it) but I hate cigarettes.
Cigarettes are narsty little tubes of make-you-smoke-more, and that's what they taste like.
I also hear ya on the bong thing -- I would much rather lazily pass a pipe around or share a couple joints than use a bong, all ravenously trying to get the most massive hit possible.

my cousin prefers American spirits for his spliff tobacco and moks. mok - a bong load packed with weed and tobacco. fucking gnarly as hell but gets u pretty damn high. i just cant understand doing it every time he smokes. he wont smoke it any other way.
in fact a few weeks ago he got bronchitis and im pretty sure it was the tobacco because he smoked a lot of moks over his birthday weekend. he also got ear infections in both of his ears, but i dont know if the tobacco smoke could of caused that.

I smoked chillum, bongs, and spliffs with a mixture of hash and tobacco for a period of about 5 months. I never really enjoyed it, but it was the only easily available method around-- still I did not get addicted, and I have never smoked cigarettes before or after this 5 month period. I did have cravings, but my mind attributed them to ganja/hash-- so I would just smoke some of this minus the tobacco and feel fine now.
I found rolling tobacco was harshest, and normally would just use cigarettes. I would 'toast' them [warm up with a lighter] and then blow out from the filter, this nasty ass vapour would come out and then we would take the leftover tobacco and mix this with the hash/ganja. I'm not sure of any particular brands though.
I'm just gonna add that there has to be a better way to reduce anxiety than smoking tobacco. Drink a tea? Meditate? Not sure, really that is up to you, but tobacco is no medicine.
It also make ruins the flavour/high of marijuana, in my most honest and humble opinion.

Fair points -- but I'm not really going for tobacco as "medicine."
Of course meditation etcetera are wonderful, but that's not what I'm after here.
It's not even that weed "makes me anxious" and I need a way to stop it -- if that were the case, I'd probably just cut back my weed use to a couple times a month.
All this is about is that I've noticed a pattern:
Every time I smoke weed + tobacco, it's a more relaxing experience than just smoking weed.
I'm not looking to "calm my spirit" or open chakras or something, I just wanna get the most out of my weed -- and if the pattern I've observed holds true, then a little tobacco should fit the bill nicely.

I was gonna bring that up earlier, actually -- as far as I know, tobacco is a staple medicine plant of almost all South American shaman groups.
When you see those videos of ahayuasca ceremonies, and the shaman is blowing smoke into the peoples' hair, on their skin, etc, that's tobacco.
Also, I recall McKenna describing a ritual for harvesting the B. Caapi, in which tobacco is blown on the plant as it is cut -- something to do with demonstrating respect for the vine.
What I think most people are not aware of, or if they are aware of it then they don't examine the implications, is just how different natural tobacco is from the synthetic product which goes into most cigarettes.
The "tobacco" in Camels, Marlboros, whatever, all that really is is a delivery platform for a medley of chemicals designed to maximize addiction and saleability.
You've got to modify the shit out of natural tobacco if you want people smoking a pack or two a day -- again, this is hearsay, not personal experience, but I do believe that natural tobacco is harsh enough, and unpleasant enough in large quantities, that it's nearly impossible to smoke that amount of it in one day. Your body just won't let you.

Pure, natural, homegrown tobacco is just as addictive as the stuff in cigarettes. The latter will taste better to most smokers, but it's still the nicotine that does it.
Btw, tobacco most certainly can be used as a medicine, for example to treat gastrointestinal parasites.

This might sound nasty to some of you but i found a way to limit my blunt smoking and conserve weed by rolling spliffs with the cigar tobacco. I buy a Dutch or Game, and then use the tobacco for spliffs, and when it's all used up, I treat myself to a big'ole blunt.  I don't know how many other people would settle for smoking that shit though.

hey man, whatever floats your boat. I respect the fact that you don't let the guts go to waste but then again they're called guts for a reason. I just can't imagine inhaling the smoke from that tobacco, they put the bottom of the barrel in those cigars.
As stated before, use Bali Shag, Drum, or any of the other fine blends mentioned, they're pretty breakin cheap.

Nicotine is of course addictive in its own right, but I distinctly recall being informed that mainstream cigarette tobacco is treated so as to get as much nicotine as possible out of it upon being burned -- whatever additives they use, the effect is to increase the lungs' absorption of nicotine, leading to a quicker rush and therefore a stronger addiction potential.
I don't know for a fact that this process makes it significantly more likely for a person to get addicted, but presumably the cigarette companies think it does -- and they're the ones who've done the research.
Put differently: if the cigarette companies thought they could hook you just as easily with untreated tobacco, I highly doubt they'd go to the trouble of treating it.

Yea I'll take it back. I can admit I have a bias against tobacco. I did some a little research into the medicinal uses though, and I think I'll still come to a similar conclusion.
Tobacco does have some medicinal use, but I would say in most occasions the negative aspects inherent to tobacco will outweigh medicinal benefits-- especially when considered that most tobacco used is not natural/organic but full of new chemicals, and that we have other methods [with less side effects] to treat the same things.
So I'll revise my statement to this: tobacco has a limited medicinal use, and generally should not be the first choice of medicine-- or used as a short term treatment only.
I won't deny tobaccos use spiritually though.

i'm not trying to start any kind of beef -- actually by and large i totally agree with your assessment of tobacco -- i just wanted to raise the following point:
claiming that tobacco itself is unduly harmful, because often it's filled with nasty chemicals, is about as sensible as claiming that weed is dangerous because sometimes it gets laced with PCP

Yea, I agree with that. No beef here, just discussions.
But there is still a difference between treated tobacco and untreated tobacco-- just as I am sure there will be a difference between commercial, treated marijuana vs natural marijuana-- and pretty much anything, if you compare a natural version to the processed version.
It may not be something inherent within the tobacco, and so avoidable-- but if this treated tobacco is the common form consumed, then it is still a valid point to mention.
