Since BBB was operating on the edge of legality, they were a good target to use as an example. Even if he is not convicted, any other herbalis/botanist/pothead that wants to make a living by selling entheogenic substances may look at the shit he went through and think twice about it.

gentlemen

MOD EDIT: This is not a Shroomery sponsor. We like to keep our vendors and recommend you look at them.

are these good prices? it's a local store where I can just walk in and buy. they also have peyote buttons in the store. they don't ship to the USA for obvious reasons, but I was wondering does anything like this in the US exist? or is it too illegal. i'm assuming BBB was overseas somewhere

Kind of off topic but I would just like to point out that the US government is hardly totalitarian.  Most of us have major issues with the government; we see and feel injustice all the time, especially when it comes to substance regulation and the horrible punishments doled out.  However, to say we live under a totalitarian government is an affront to those who have suffered under the likes of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, Stalin in Russia, etc...  The words we use have meaning; we would all be wise to remember that.

id like to say the greedy ones only ruined it for themselves if someone wanted to get any plant you only need its latin name and an up to date RHS plant finder and then see who specialises in the area of plant you are after and give them a call asking for garden plants not visionary teachers

Meanwhile, pharmacutical companies continue to produce mass quantities of "medications" that do nothing for the soul.

People like Jon put themselves on the line so the rest of us can feed our spirits.

Indeed... One documentary I was watching put it best when they said that Pharmaceutical companies create these so-called "medications" to simply treat symptoms instead of finding cures... Because if they found cures they would be out of business... Our bodies are more profitable to them if we keep getting sick....

Collect what you can while you can and trade privately like we do here for as long as we can because eventually, if the trend continues it will be back down to private clubs and local traders. Guess I better start me a garden club...

Good point. Time to start collecting seeds of various species.

Its the very reason I collect so many spore prints of active species. One day, it may be illegal to buy spores over the net and we will have to rely on the forum members' collections to keep things going.

As long as the plants and mushrooms are alive on our planet, there will always be a way to get them. Though, it may not be as easy as typing in a CC number and placing an order.

Interesting.  At my university in Rhode Island we grow san pedro.  I mean...the school does.  It's beautiful...8 feet tall in the greenhouse special collection.  But....i guess it does contain mescaline.  one of the most beautiful flowering plants in the world...

ah well...

Your university and almost every botanical gardens with a cacti and succulent section.

Trichocereus pachanoi is one of the most widely cultivated cacti out there, not to mention it is one of the cactus collector's favorite grafting stocks.

I am not worried about the recent raids as I dont buy from Ethnobotanical dealers who are obviously selling for them for people to get high.

I buy/trade from legitimate growers and nurseries who sell them because they are an amazing plant.

I also grow from seed.

This is what will stop increased awareness to this plant.

This is very sad. Bouncing Bear was doing a great service to spiritualists everywhere. What a terrible place the world can be when a government steals and scares. Hopefully people can open their eyes and see that Mr. Jon Sloan is not a man that deserves to be imprisoned and robbed. I have hope for humanity, but it's hard after reading stories like these. Even if BBB isn't the best vendor out there (especially compared to the Shroomery sponsors).

IF these events lead to more like it or the establishment of some hindering precedent things will go back to "club" status like it did in the early seventies and not be as much in the "public domain" as it is now.
We're already updating plans and people as to how many acres will be preservation garden/greenhouse for these species and the people who take care of them. It needs doing regardless of this case outcome. Can't emphasize enough that if you've aspired to have that "ultimate collection" and have a nice hobby that pays for itself your day may be arriving.
Buying/trading from private people who love or are obsessed with what they do is often more rewarding anyway. I'm sure some of the vendors will hold out to the last minute in such a case and will hopefully give some discounts or make numerous deposits of their species/strains with various entities/individuals.
BUT that's a big "IF" - Still think that whatever happens it should launch a larger wave of botanical garden/private collection preservation and education.
....and still hoping that maybe this thing was handled so poorly that it may even throw the smallest weight into the people's argument for access...?
