and update growth is still nice and white and slowly growing i thought it as going fast but after the first day i noticed growth its not really growing fast at all the whole cake isn't even covered yet ? if this was mold wouldn't the whole cake be covered already or be sporing by now its had white growth for 5 days counting today and no earth smell of any kind i cant really smell any thing past what i cleaned the jug with which was a Lysol spray so it smells like some flowery stuff atm lol any way will keep updated

it was eating away at the core i picked it up to look at it cause the growth just stalled in its tracks when i picked it up I saw the deadly bitch on the bottom then I Promptly took it outside and carefully broke it open the entire Core of the cake was Solid green then deposited it in a snow pile sad but hey powerful learning experience now i know what that shit looks like with my own eyes and will be on the look out from now on

Just Checkin in, Is Aradars nasty trich cake going to survive in the snow until springtime and come back in to his home, or will the cold weather kill all of the spores to prevent future contams? I threw two trich/cobweb mold cakes into the snow outside my patio a few weeks back, but thinking about it i figured even one spore could make it's way back into my home if they were in such close proximity; took em to the dumpster in a plastic bag. Good Luck Z

click on "forum index" then click on the "mushroom cultivation" forum.
scroll down just a lil till you see "post" near the middle of the screen and that starts your new posts or scroll down a lil more to read others posts (theirs millions)
I hope thats clear cuz its not easy to explain

Yo, I am new on the field, just got a few samples, now I'm wondering: The jars I can see being used in tutorials are quite circle-based all around, from bottom to top with the same radius, but the ones I can find around are shrink in the end. just like this one. Should I colonize cakes in jars like this, so can I simply take them out after it ends or will I've got to break the glass into pieces?

with that type of jar you will have to break it you want tapered jars
that means they have no shoulder on them and the opening is wider than the bottom

lol I don't mean to be rude but on a basic physical stand point of course with those jars you would have to break to get the cake out. How do you get something that is say 5 inch in diameter out of a hole that is say 3 inches ?? Its like trying to fit a square piece into a triangle cutout when we were kids

I dont know, thats why I am asking. Since they are so goddamn common around here - cant even recall seeing different kinds - I thought there may be some kind of common procedure for this ones. Anyways, I will look for the right kinds of jars, thanks for the answers!

I'm probably not posting this in the right place and I don't see how to start a new topic so I apologize. If one used organic white flour instead brown rice flour is this bad? The ingredients list didn't mention any preservatives, just flour itself. Will this work?

Use brown rice flour for best results. Other kinds of things might work, and somebody has probably used them- but BRF will give the results you are looking for.
