its not the blanket. its differant spores in each jar wich will make all colonize differant speeds. that is what you get with a MS syringe.Quote:

well that is outdated info, i am and have been colonizing and growing in the same room. a garage, which is 56 ATM but to each his own. FYI in commercial mushroom farms there is no incubators and they colonize everything at 68-74.

The Mycelium is still speeding along, and in the past two days two elements of interest have occurred.
For one, the patches of Mycelium throughout the jar begun largely connecting to one another, to form larger continents of Mycelium, from what once were islands.
Secondly, The Mycelium has begun to take on a much more branching, tree-like look to it.
I can't believe how much growth has been seen in just over 10 days. There are still some moderate sized ares with no Mycelium coverage, but I don't think they'll stay that way for long. Below, three jars can be seen, the two on the left showing nice areas of connection between the Mycelium patches, and the one on the right showing an area still waiting for Mycelium growth.

Yeah on my first grow things were going great then i put a towel over the jars (hoping to keep them warmer) then found out towels carry an abundance of germs and all of my jars slowed down growth to a stop and that was the end of that, i also use rubber gloves also very good idea, keep it up

You don't want to see baby mushrooms growing inside your jars. and also, after 100% colonization, are you going to let them consolidate for a week?

Also, I have decided to grow 3 of the jars simply in cake form, but to take the other three jars and use the crumble and case method. This will let me compare the two methods' yields, as well as have a more fail safe option with the cakes in case the case method fails.
Nice, they're coming along!
Unless you've already got some at 100% colonization for a couple of days already, however, I would doubt you'll see baby shrooms in that short of period of time. Your myc is still feasting on all of the goodies in the jar, and one of the pinning triggers is myc running out of nutrients. Don't forget consolidation time after it appears the jar is completely colonized, too.
I was disappointed in my cakes at first because despite the fact that I left the jars to consolidate at least 5 days after 100%, it took quite a while for a healthy pinset to appear. It's rockin' now tho!
I'm trying some casings too of various sorts, working my way to a monotub. So far so good
Keep up the pics! Always great to see someone else's personal porn collection

It's perfectly fine if it begins to pin in vitro.

Never said they're was anything wrong with it......I said you don't want to see them....and I've not came across anyone who does.
That means it's getting FAE too early.........It actually is a badthing if it's pinning and your cakes are even fully colonized.

If you don't want to see it then it's assumed it's a bad thing, and it could simply mean it's ready to fruit. It doesn't need FAE to start pinning - especially in a jar where it seems unlikely that it will get any FAE..
However, I agree that pinning before full colonization is not a good sign.
