Rules:
1) No Flaming. No Trolling. Do not provoke others with incendiary
or condescending remarks.
2) Be respectful. While it's often difficult not to poke at the beliefs
of another regardless of which side you support we'd like to encourage
everyone to put forth a good effort. Making posts or threads that mock
in a ridiculing manner will not be tolerated.
3) Post with content that stimulates discussion or debate. Add your own
input to that which you plan to copy and paste whether it's a youtube
video or a website you should try and explain why you like or dislike
the concept being presented, why the ideas intimidate you or are cause
for great concern. Threads without will be locked without prejudice
4) Be aware of, and use, the Report Post icon (located on the
bottom of every post) if you notice a rule being broken. This will
notify the moderators of that particular post, please provide a reason
for notification.
Debate is encouraged but to have a positive debate there needs to
be input from both sides. Each side will have a version of events, if
there's documentation or some evidence, it's highly suggested that you
bring it to the table so all parties can examine and cross examine the
evidence. Without evidence, the discussion is opinion and speculation.
If you believe that witnesses shouldn't be discredited, that evidence
shouldn't be held to speculation and refutation of physical evidence
shouldn't take place, the Conspiracies and Cover-ups forum may not be
the right place to present your ideas. If you dont want debate in your
thread, the Spirituality & Mysticism may be more appropriate for your topic.
Guidelines for discussion:
Debate vs. Discussion
There is a not-so-subtle difference between "debate" and "discussion"
that is important to understand when both parts hold opposing views:
debate is a competition; discussion is a collaboration.
The goal of a debate is to win. Successful debate strategies
include making your case with credible sources and destroying the case
of your opponents. In order to win a debate you have to know both sides
of the topic, you have to know your opponent's argument and that takes
research, that same research will strengthen your own case. Take
advantage of the knowledge.
The goal of a discussion is to understand. In a discussion, both parties
must be careful to remain on the "same side of the table." Always let
the other side know that maintaining the highest level of respect in
your ideas is more important than being "right." The goal is simply to
understand the other person's point-of-view. Sometimes we confuse
"understand" with "agree with." It is not always necessary to agree on
an issue. Agreeing to disagree - letting the other enjoy his/her opinion
- can be as satisfying or more satisfying than changing the other person's mind.
And that about covers it.
