job dilemma

I started this job 6 months ago. I just got a raise and more responsibility. Basically I've been really stoked about the job and everything is going well and my boss knows I have been and planned to invest a lot of time into his company. Today, a former boss offered me a full time position at her office that basically I can't turn down and have already accepted. How should I quit my other job? Should I be straight up or should I say... Fake a family crisis or something? I would be totally happy with my job if this hadn't just come up and I def wasn't planning it so I don't want my boss to think I was being phony and giving out false investment

being straight up is always a safe bet, if for some reason it doesnt work out with the former boss you might have an open spot with the other guy, people restpect honesty, I respect honesty.

....or something like that.

Be honest. By telling your current employer that you have a better offer, he/she may come back and make you an even better offer.
Plus, if you like the position, it would be bad to "burn a bridge" by lying. If you do need to go back, it would be much easier.
Ask yourself this, why did your past employer let you go or why did you quit? Now all of a sudden they want you back? What I'm trying to say is, if the reason you left was due to money alone, then fine. But was there something else? If so, is it worth the money?

Honesty is the best way to do it because.. its all business! I would understand if someone left me for more pay/ hours. Why not? I want more $$ too!

I'd actually be leaving for less money. It's kind of a weird situation. I've been working at one of those "bikini stands" which realistically isn't a career however I do make a lot more money and it has awesome flexoble hrs. On the other hand I've been working for this dr sort of on call so now that she is letting her current assistant go she wants me to work for her. So it sort of just came up out of nowhere and I feel bad giving my boss this complete turn around.
so I suppose this...Quote:

Work at both jobs. Sneek out of one job to go to the other job and then sneek back. If you can't do that work at the job that pays the most.
