unfortunately the current gpu core wont work on the x800's or the x1900's its only the x2000's and after due to it using the unified shader cores that are in the x2000's and all ati cards after.
I just started using virtualbox to run a couple xp virtual machines and am now running 1 gpu and 2 cpu cores at once, i surprised the old phenom handles it so well.

I'm assuming even with the 1 9600 your gpu is really thrashing your CPU in points per day?
Yeah, the gpu client smashes pretty much every cpu client, unless you are using the SMP on a quad. Even still, it is close. I was getting around 8000+ PPD with the 2x 96GSO You can still run the CPU client along with the gpu client- just make sure you leave 1 core for the gpu client exclusively.
I'm letting the cpu cores share 3 to give them plenty of power and the gpu has the 4th to its self, now to wait and see what effect it has on my ppd

If you are running the virtual machines for the cpu clients- I actually got better speed/ppd running the smp linux client in a virtual machine than i got in just XP. The thread handlers in linux are so much better than XP, it actually works out faster. Vita/Win7 have a much updated thread handler, and work faster than the XP versions as well, without any virtual machine. You might actually be slowing yourself down, running as you are.

I intend to swap to linux at some point i was just curious about the virtual machines, i just grabbed some free vm software and happened to have an xp iso file on my hard drive so xp was just easy at the time.
but running a couple vm's with cpu clients on has made it much easier for me to break 2000ppd, i know could easily break that with my gpu alone if it was ran 24/7 but i like to game allot
with all this multi core/vm fun I'm kind of tempted to buy the dual threaded, 6 core intel i7 next year, i would love to see what kind of ppd it pulls in when clocked about 4ghz

A corei7 in linux with HT on can get over 8000ppd at 3.7ghz. Assuming perfect scaling, the i9 (6 core) should bring around 12000 if you set everything up right.

hmm depending on the cost for the full system i may well go for Intel's new 6 core paired with an ati 5870 or something from nvidia's next gen as i want to move up this leader board

I've never used the GPU version, I dont even know if my card can do it. I've got an old ATI X800 Limited Edition (X850 core). I've got it overclocked to it's stable maximum also.
Other rigs included are Dell's HP's and Compaq base rigs, nothing special.
Just purchased an ATI Radeon HD 4850. Does the GPU client work on this card?

Does catalyst 9.3 still not work with the GPU client? I have it running but it keeps getting EUE or whatever they're called.

I just joined the team and it feel good!
Its time to put my quad-core Intel CPU to good use! I know I'm not even using it close to its actual capacity (I have a CPU meter running), and this should do some good work for a good cause.
Thanks Ythan for creating a folding team for the Shroomery! We're (too early?) currently ranked 119 out of 171733!
That's pretty good in my book! Lets get it up to the top 10! We can do it, together...

How long does your computer fold for? As long as you are connected to the internet or just when you are loading pages?
Not too hip on the tech stuff myself.
I joined a few months back. It's cool to be able to help out without really doing anything.

I type in "Sheeno" under "folding@home username" in my account options, but I get:
"We cannot proceed. The Folding@home username you entered has not yet returned any results for the Shroomery team. Please try again in a day or two.
Please use your back button to return to the previous page."
Which is confusing, as I'm listed as in The Shroomery on the website.
