Psychotria...

Some pics of my psychotria growth over the past 12 months...
P. carthaginensis Jan 09

Dec 09

P. viridis Jan 09

Dec 09

They are growing in a fairly dry climate, in a small greenhouse outside. I put clear plastic sheeting around the viridis to increase the humidity and this really helped their growth and leaf integrity. What do ya think?

Wow... I can't WAIT to get a greenhouse... If all goes well I will have a really nice Rion greenhouse in less than 6 months.... I would love to be able to grow my Viridis nice and big like that without having some sort of ghetto-made dome over the top of it...

I think they look very good.
You've just helped me make up my mind about buying one of those greenhouses. I've been thinking about it recently.

Man, I am so jealous of those P.Viridis plants you have. I have planted many PV seeds and nothing has sprouted yet. Good Job Mufungo

Cheers guys.
Getafixx, I bought these as plants, I couldn't grow any from seed yet either..
themallacht, I'm using a dodgy greenhouse which is a few pipes stuck together with a plastic cover, bought from the hardware store. It has shelves, so I partitioned a section off with clear plastic sheeting.

Awesome.
How long did the viridis take to sprout?

Mine grows much slower. So you think putting in a ziplock will help?

Nice plants. I had too many Psychotria alba plants, so picked my best one to bring indoors for the winter and left the rest outside. Despite enduring a handful of nights in sub-freezing temperature, they are amazingly still alive. I figured the first night of low 30's would have killed them.

Not so much fakes as people confusing their p. alba with viridis.

Alba grows faster but is less potent. I guess a comparison would be people confusing torch with cuzcos.

Sorry for the delay, but here are some shots of the greenhouse inwhich my psychotria are growing...

I picked the greenhouse up from the hardware store for $60AU and I bought some extra clear plastic to partition a section for the viridis. It shows that they can be grown with some success in a dry climate!

They look very happy in there.
How much full sun a day do you think they receive?
