I talked with Dr. Holiday. I informed him i was a member of a forum and the offer that was made to us. I don't know houdinihar's name. He said that the 1000 for 40 cultures is legitimate. He said that it was fine for us to split the culture up with the members involved, and we can use them commercially.
Any questions feel free to ask. Also, we need to work out the details if we are going to do this.

Awesome! Well, that should be incentive to the commercial guys.
I wouldn't be suprised if a bunch more don't jump on the bandwagon.
Maybe we should move ahead, and leave the deal open for a while so that newconers should pay $50 to the guy who is in it for the most at the time.

I would be willing to contribute to this, but i have a few questions first. Who will be receiving the cultures and making the copies to be sent out? Will each person be receiving all 40 cultures or only some of them? And as to the person making the copies and sending them out, will there be additional costs in order to pay for the test tubes, agar, time, etc? I would think that it would be at least (per person) $50 in test tubes and agar alone, not including time and shipping? I will contribute $50 if i can get all of these details. 40 Cultures for $50, even $100 would be a steal!

I think it is important to work out some of the details before we buy these. Who is going to receive master slants? Who are the members involved in this buy? Who is going to pay for shipping for master slant distribution? 40 cultures will be 80 slants. That will be a lot of shipping.
I wonder if John would be willing to send half the slants to one address and the other half to another? I can distribute any cultures I get to everyone else for the cost of postage/supplies. Then everyone can be responsible for there own supplies. Also if we use two main distributors it will keep the cultures as young as possible for the rest of the members.
Just my thoughts

Chad1 is right on. We should at least try to estimate the additional costs of the shipping, test tubes, agar, and labor so people can get a legitimate idea of how much it will cost beyond the contribution to the 40 culture purchase. I have been ordering my test tubes from these guys:

good service and fast shipping. All you have to do is remove the plastic liner on the inside of the cap b4 sterilizing. At that price (with shipping), each tube is +/- $.80 a piece. IF there are better deals thats gr8, but this can give us an estimate. $.80 x 80 = $64 in test tubes. Agar is pretty cheap, but shipping would be the next hurdle + the sender would really have to pack them nice (so they dont break). Also, the labor involved with the transfers. Im thinking in the range of $150 with everything (not including the $ put down for the initial purchase of the cultures). This is just my estimate, the people making the copies and sending it out will have to come up w/ exact numbers. Does this sound about right? What does everyone think? Some people may not have realized these others costs b4 posting their contributions. I think it would be smart to get this all in order b4 people start sending money.

Aloha sends 2 slants of each strain. If john will send 1 of each to two members they can distribute. I'm not sure if everyone is wanting to send test tubes. If we send wedges it would be a lot cheaper. I can send out 20 strains to all members involved in a flat rate box if we send wedges. Maybe send in a cooler with ice packs?

Yeah, this is going to get complicated. Maybe we should start another thread?
Do you all want 40 strains? We could cut the work load / distribution costs if we divide them up. (Except the proven strains discussed earlier.)
