Do Bongs Really Filter Marijuana Smoke?
Here's the pertinent bit that actually relies on a study rather than conjecture (like in the later part of the article):Quote:
The study discovered that bongs actually performed less effectively than the other devices at removing harmful tar components from the marijuana smoke. Oddly enough, unfiltered joints actually fared best in the trials in terms of allowing the lowest amount of harmful tars and other substances from reaching the experiment's hypothetical lungs. However, it should also be noted that MPAS examined another study that was done concerning filtered marijuana smoke and filtered tobacco smoke. It was found that macrophages (white blood cells that engulf foreign bacteria) were less effective when subjected to unfiltered smoke from either substance in the lungs. Thus, although more harmful tars might reach the lungs via filtered marijuana smoke through a bong, the user could possibly be more at risk for a respiratory infection if they smoke unfiltered joints or out of pipes.
-------------------- Let that which doesn't matter truly not matter.

Drag is caused by the air needing to displace a ton of water. As long as there is not a ton of water above the percs, the number of percs is irrelevant to drag. FIll up your bong to where it barely filters and then fill it as high as possible. It the same bong, but drag will be very different.
Some of the nicest pieces out there are like 35+ arms on a perc. If # of arms made a difference no one would be making or buying those bongs.
Buying from DB or SSV, you also get a 3 year warranty. I would say go straight to the seller rather than ebay IMO

i can still notice a huge difference between a piece with a triple perc and a bong without a perc. and i think i will go straight to DBV to buy the vape just for the point on warranty, and the delivery is next to nothing.

yeah thanks for clearing that up. I have a mini bong with 12 individual arms coming down, and each arm(tube) has 3 holes in it. So technically theres 36 places where the smoke gets filtered by water. And the drag is smaller than a normal sized bong with just 1 perc.

I tried a volcano for the first time in Amsterdam at the weekend.
The vapour is so tasty it's unreal. It really tastes like when you put your nose deep into a bag of weed and inhaling.
Definitely one of the tastiest I've had.

I always feel like taking very small bong hits is the best way to get frizzle fried and still feel healthy after.
Like, "can't even feel it" small.
Just pace yourself with a nice bowl loaded up.

But then you've got to deal with more not-as-tasty-as-the-first puffs. I try to limit those in my toking.

See, I make it so each section I hit burns down to the bottom, leaving only green hits.
Just take it slow and it's super fun.
