We're both entitled to our opinion but coming from someone who got the whole RR experience of not knowing shit to him walking me through the processes I wasn't clear on to the end product: 
for me to not stand up for him would be fucked up because he spent probably a few hours straightening me out on my shit.
and in your case he certainly does deserve the kudos he receives, but he essentially "looks for kudos" acting as if he is some "pioneer" of the field of mycology.
And the way he responds to most people... if he is gonna take the time to scold someone for not "doing their research" or using the search engine, why can he not just use that time and energy to answer a noobie's question instead of making them feel like they are out of place, or just an idiot for asking a question.

i was once banned for 729 days.. but I had it fixed lol. buy opening a ticket! and emailing alan a picture of my ID.
heres what happened- i said i was 16 in an anonymous forum. lol. it was an interesting situation.. (Im 19.. I was kidding atm )

I was the same way, for a little while at least.
I absolutely loved giving noobs advice and making them feel welcome in these forums, but it seemed like nothing i typed was taken as anything more than on a grain of rice, so to speak, lol.
since i didn't have a trusted cultivator tag, and didn't have more than 2,000 posts that my advice was just spewing bullshit. lol. no matter the years of VERY successful experience i had, if it didn't come out of the mouth (or fingers, haha) of a popular character in these forums then my advice was irrelevant.
but here in the pub i feel much more comfortable, because the opinions or advice i give isn't over run by the seekers of attention, and congratulations that makes the cult forums go 'round

he is an intelligent man, and much wiser than a lot (most) of the people in the cult forum.
MY opinion is that he presents himself way too egotistically, and very often condescendingly, which belongs no where near a site made for helping people and keeping a community of similar interests together.
i guess i am going to give up on my point, because obviously i am going unheard by those who can't comprehend the way this site is changing for the worse, just because of the common attitude of "big-headedness" (for lack of a better word) that is shared by many people including RR.
I certainly don't appreciate childish comments such as "sandy vagina" about myself or otherwise, but i guess it does enforce the point i am making
