Since when? The fact that I may be facing some type of consequence doesn't matter (paying unemployment, compensation), I can still do it.

Yes. Anyone can do anything the want if they face the consequences. Fire me for an illegal reason, and I will sue you.

Businesses have nothing to gain from firing a productive employee, and plenty to lose.

Again, we don't live in a free market society.

Not only do companies get tax benefits for hiring, firing, and rehabbing - according to select quotas.

There are cases in which businesses get govt grants, some of which come from your property taxes. (As you might have guessed, strings are attached.)

At the boiler room level, commodities sold by many business are nearly worthless, in some cases, like a Ponzi stamp scheme, or markup on services doesn't account for the size of the staff.

A few of these places are basically fronts for collecting corporate welfare. I call them commissaries.

They have one way of gauging your personal worthiness as a human being. It's not decency, intelligence, or productivity.

It does have very much to do with social change.

Once you get beyond high school economics, you find that unfettered free-market capitalism doesn't work. Unless you like your country to be like Mexico or Guatemala.

My part of the US is very much like Mexico. I'm being completely serious. Without the crossing, you might not know where you are at.

And, there are basic goods and services, which I will no longer buy, anymore.

FWIW, the taboo "mystery" of currencies with intrinsic value, as opposed to preferential credit, is the source of most exploitation, as we know it, today.

Make me do my own work, and I can hardly be a burden on the environment, or on large people groups.

Give me play money, and I have a force multiplier.
