Hallucinate Like You Just Took LSD, Legally

Yes, that's right kids! Tell your dealer goodbye and worry no more about winding up naked on the roof of an office building after a bad trip. Now you can be stoned out of your mind by building a homemade deprivation chamber out of some regular, completely harmless household objects. Holy Shit, How Can I Do It!You are going to need three things: a ping-pong ball, a radio with headphones and a red light. Step 1: Turn the radio to a station with just white noise (static), and put on your headphones. Step 2: Cut the ping-pong ball in half and tape each half over your eyes. Step 3: Turn the red light so it's facing your eyes. Step 4: Sit there for at least a half an hour. Step 5: Follow Ben Franklin and your new friend, Harold the unicorn, into the gumdrop forest, and live happily ever after. How Does It Work? It's called the Ganzfeld effect, and it works by blocking out most of the signals that go to your brain. It's the same kind of effect you get when looking into a soft light for a while and lose vision, except at a larger scale. The sound of the white noise and the light from the outside of the ping pong ball are eventually ignored by your brain. With all those signals out of the picture, your brain has to create its own, and this is where the hallucinations come in. We can't guarantee they won't involve, say, the ghost of Lizzie Borden trying to hack off your scrotum with an ax, but that's the risk you take, dammit.

I've seen this posted before but I don't think anyone has tested it.
I'm sure it does work.

I find this hard to believe.. Why would you hallucinate just because your senses are muddled?

I feel like I'd just fall asleep. So in a sense, yeah I'd be tripping off of DMT.

I remember there was logic applied with the last thread which explained it I think.
It made sense then...
Something like your senses are deprived in such a way that your mind starts to fill in the blanks/play tricks.

That is feasible to an extent.
But to compare such a self-induced trip to an LSD trip is blasphemous, imo.

Oh,that's ridiculous I know that.
I imagine it would just look like real life, not tripping. Like imaging something in your mind but a little more realistic.

This doesn't make sense. The red light and the noise goes against the whole point of depriving your senses -_-. Also your sense of touch will be activated since your going to be laying on things other than buoyant water, where you can actually loose your touching sensation. Just my 2 cents.

apparently. But you never know for sure till you try. I think it's just a cheap ass deprivation tek, which ain't like a real deprivation chamber with buoyant water but still might work a little.

I prefer this:
Mindfold:

Total darkness even with the eyes open.
Wear it long enough and interesting things start to happen.
Of course the effects are amplified 10x by psychedelics. It's also incredible with K. Flying through the K-hole and seeing everything your mind comes up with.
As soon as I get the chance I'm going to try LSD+Ketamine with it. CAN'T. WAIT.

I think a lot of the nay-sayers are too afraid to try it. Why wouldn't you just try it if you're skeptical? It costs next to nothing, so you don't really have anything to lose...
Myself, i'm a bit wary to try it. Though I could see it working off the same principles as a deprivation chamber, however, like someone else already pointed out, whats with the noise and the light?

I agree with those who say that this is basically like a deprivation tank.
Obviously if you have white noise and red lights, then it's not totally sensory deprivation, but it is similar because if the light and noise is constant and unvarying, then your senses will have nothing to hold on to.
Think about it this way, when you're in a tank, you can still "see" black. But it's really because it's just black and totally black that doesn't change, you are unable to fix on to it. I imagine the red lights are good at blocking out interference, although this should work with total darkness as well. Essentially what you want to avoid is a point of light that you can focus on, or anything that changes and moves (like a blinking alarm clock).
