The Shroomery is worth about as much as Ythan's liver.
Its simply NOT FOR SALE, so that figure means nothing. Even if it were for sale, who's buying? I don't see Mycotopia selling their cars to buy the Shroomery.
Its not for sale and there are no buyers, two things essential to give that big number substance.
The figure relates to generated traffic. If the Shroomery were sold and the staff replaced, or if instead the traffic was heavily commercially exploited, members would leave.

Purchased quietly and commercialized subtly; a site like this could bring a fair yearly salary to a few people at least.
It is a tremendously slippery business, however. I have seen a popular online music community get sold to business types for a substantial amount of money. The former owners immediately made a new site, new name. The Entire community left the old to go to the new.
The purchasers were left with a wasteland, Pathetically and obviously drumming up puppets to give the appearance of it being used.

According to Alexa, 1 in 1000 website visits is a visit to 4chan (over the last 3 months), which ranks it 332nd in the US. So I'd say it's worth a damn lot comparatively. Methinks the community would mobilize if it was sold though. Same situation as Wiccan just mentioned.
