i'm fairly certain, they look like small fruiting bodies to me, i personally have never seen slime mold that looks like that..
but pins are near impossible to ID but they look EXACTLY like all the galarina pins that are poppong up in the woods right behind mi casa

In five days there will either be mushrooms there, or more (or no) slime mold.
I'm excited for the update, but I am a loser.

Looking at this page that seems all pins, is it possible these won't grow much? http://naturalhistory.uga.edu/~GMNH/Mycoherb_Site/myxogal.htm
Also, looking at the very bottom of this page, is it possible they might get up and crawl away? http://biology.clc.uc.edu/courses/bio106/protista.htm

I don't think the fruit bodies in your images will get much bigger than that!
The fruit bodies don't get up and crawl away the slime mold organisms do and as they move they consume bacteria and other fungi! inski.

wait a minute...where is the slime mold parent? can i see it/catch it? is it in my picture?
if the fruit bodies don't last long and i don't get back in time...it all might be gone, and then that will be inconclusive

I declare it a slime mold. It was trying to get away. If you do the math, the red circle demarcates where they were before.
at first i was upset because i thought they were gone when i got there. Then when i spotted em i'd thought they must have shrank, how could they be that small. That is a human hair i stuck in there.

Saying I could be wrong is protecting my ass in case I am wrong.
I was sure it was a slime mold from the second I saw the picture. You guys just tried to talk me out of it.
Thanks for confriming my ID, inski.
