Actually bipolardox, it is illegal to take mushrooms from most states land, whether active or not. Similar to the laws of taking no driftwood. If its there naturally it is supposed to be left. Pickin on yours or a buddies land is a different story though. You can get permits for a days pass of picking at certain parks also. Shouldve looked it up before posting, but I believe there are only two states where its not illegal to take mushrooms from state land. Sorry just woke up, to lazy for my reference.

Personally, I disreguard those laws, but no run ins with the 5.0 yet.

That is not true. Most State and National Forest lands allow picking of up to 1 gallon of mushrooms for personal use. It's only the commercial picking that is regulated requiring fees and permits. Even here non-commercial edible mushroom picking is legal.

Oregon Dept. of Forestry allows 1 gallon for personal use. Commercial pickers must pay $100 for a permit that allows up to 1,000 lbs. in one month.

Mt. Hood National Forest allows 1 gallon for personal use without a permit and only requires a free use permit to collect for commercial use.

BLM Land in Oregon & Washington rules are a little more confusing but appears to allow 1 gallon for personal use without a permit/contract.

Places like forest reserves, research areas, and wilderness areas will be the exception to the above general guidelines.

There you have it, folks. No need to let misinformation limit your foraging possibilities.  Now get out there and hunt!

Got followed by a guy in a landrover. Ran away. Came back, he was there again. Threw box of shrooms in my box of sandwiches and pulled my sandwich out and ate it. As he stared at me from 20ms away, and I sat there smugly staring back at him. This went on for about 3-4 minutes. Stood, silent, and staring. Police pulled me over another time, and i threw the mushrooms under seat.

Not sure my eyesight is poor lol. I guess so. he was bounding around the fields at about 55mph in his landrover, so one would guess he was the farmer.

i went back there today, and some woman was walking her dog, so i turned round and stared at a cow for about 6 minutes. When i turned back round she was stood next to me, and the conversation went as follows:

Lady: "We've had a great foaling season this year.."

Me: "Errmm.. yeh.. theres certainly more than last year"

...SILENCE...

Me: "Errrm im lost, do you know the way back to the main road"

Lady: "Yes its down the hill and right"

Me: "Thank you! bye then"

Im seriously guna get caught sooner or later lol. The main road is about 500 metres from the spot, and you have to walk across about 9 fields up a hill. Theres one parking space at the bottom too lol.

I have never ..."Knocks on wood"  had to deal with law enforcement while on a hunt.. I did have a neighbor bust out of the house as I was down in the Macro position taking photos of some Lemon Lepiota in her flower beds.. Stinking woman just did not understand all I was doing was taking some photos..

But hey!... Im a Ninja and Ninjas are invisible so I have nothing to worry about:wink:

Yes, anyone who's seen Super Troopers will agree with me. The size of the bear costume was really spot on for a cow, the physics apply.

hahha tipping cows. to quote Bullshitpedia:

"A study led by Margo Lillie, a doctor of zoology at the University of British Columbia, concludes that cow tipping by a single person is impossible. Her calculations found that it would take at least two people to apply enough force to push over a cow if the cow does not react and reorient its footing. If the cow does react, it would take at least four people to push it over. Professor Lillie noted that, contrary to the myth, cows are well aware of their surroundings (they have excellent senses of smell and hearing) and are very difficult to sneak up upon."

This was my take, reading either some state or national park rulebook - NOTHING may be removed from the land, but you may bury your shit.
