Went out on Friday morning and despite the cold weather i found a decent amount. I used to find all the cubes under the trees, but this time we found them all in the tall grass out in the open. I guess its the weather...

Put them in a fruiting chamber like a tub or cooler. I've done this with great success.

i figured i'd try that myself and just to see if it would work i took a nice little horse pile that had produced recently and placed it into a high tek mysterio grow chamber otherwise known as an upside down fish tank... i watered it, misted the inside and guess what? thanks! more experimentation to follow...

hey guys, so i went to the farmer down the road and asked him to let me buy some cow manure. i told him i would pay but he was more then happy to let me have some for free. so we went out to the field and i found one pan ant on the way to the fresh dung. i grabbed some fresh dung, went to my local woods and brang a bottle of room temp water. then i layed the pattie underneath a short tree, covered it with some leave and poored the water onto it. how many times should i water it? and when should i see progress? should i remove the leaves or keep em? any advice would be great. - mattian

stoneheart, i believe i may attempt your method of production before transplanting an active pattie to my place. i have just the makeshift tub. transparent, but not too much. just enough to allow sunlight in to keep the micro-environment warm and moist.

You cant just grab any ol patty. You've gotta check for mycelium growth. If you only found that 1 pan ant, then it is highly unlikely your patty has mycelium growth.

the problem with checking for a mycelium is the possibility of damaging or contaminating it. thats my main concern in looking for a mycelium in all the patties. transplanting or transporting a pattie with a mycelium may not survive the move. thats why its always a crapshoot; a risk.

I have never had a problem. I just use a regular ol bag too..get multiple patties home safely and checking for mycelium growth is not even a real task

yeah. i grabbed a bunch of patties a few weeks ago and brought them home. watered them a few times and nothing happens. you really need to have the mycaleum growth or whatever for them to produce.
it rained like a bitch in southeast central florida last night and compared to how it's been all week today was hot as fuck.
i'm going out there tommorow i'll let yall know.

finally rained here today too... talking about checking for mycelium growth, i noticed a week or so back a large area,(2x3 feet) of what appeared to be a fuzzy white mycelium mat... growing on top of an area of multiple deposits of horse dung...approximately a week later the same area was inundated with cubes... large and small... when i noticed the mat it had been extremely humid and muggy nights and regular rainfall during the days... the same area my avatar was photographed ...

last night i went out and set up a control micro-environment similar to stoneheart's glass tank, except i used a clear plastic tub. i will be checking it later tonight. if anything good appears, i'll try to remember to get pix.

i checked my pattie tonight and found nada. so i watered it and sprayed the tub, hoping for a better crop tomorrow night. if that doesnt work, then i am definitely transplanting it at my place.
how are your attempts?
is the weather effecting everyone?
