i'm new to harvesting and i'm happy i found this forum.
about 2 years ago my buddy was working at this sod field and he was finding shrooms just about every day. it was a lot of fun. i know exactly where he was getting them from and i'm guessing that they should still be out in that area.
it's a hike from my house and people are telling me that they are out of season....but i know it was oct/nov last year when he was finding them just about every day.
i live in central FL and it's been raining just a little bit each day. what do you guys think? are the people telling me they are out of season just idiots? think it would be worth a trip out there?

from what im understanding cubes are towards their end but you could still find them and pans should be out for some time to come but i dont know for sure

Here in North Ga our cube season is just now taking off.From about the end of September till it stays below freezing for several days they grow great. We don't find many here in the spring and summer.

Definitely not done on the cubes. I plan to go pick some up in about 3 hours. Ill be sure to update with photos this time!

well. not really much luck out there tonight. i grabbed some patties and put them into the woods. somehow one of them cracked open a little bit when i was watering them down. on the inside there are tiny little mushrooms. i took a picture but they are really too small to see right now. comparing these babies to other pics on this site it looks like they might be pans. are pans decent?

If the conditions stay right cubes will grow all year long. I've found cubes in January just outside of Tampa before.

wow. i went out the other night. one of the coolest adventures in my life hahahhah. didn't find any shrooms at all but when i came back i still felt amazing. hahahaha. just being out in the fields in the middle of the night.
not one mushroom found in about 2 hours. i know that that field had cubes in it last year but i guess the conditions aren't right.
i'll be out again soon.

i have started my own cube garden...i took some manure from the fields and laid it in piles under somes trees and inside some tall lillies in my yard. i will be moisturizing them when needed. i hope it works and i didn't destroy any of the mycelium.
