Sorry for the misunderstanding, I was posting because I had already confirmed as Amanita amerimuscaria, not requesting ID on this thread.

For finding as many stuntzii as i have, I have yet to find them growing in wood chips. All have been lawn variety, which explains their slightly low potency. I've been concentrating on housing developments that are less than 3 years old, and they have a little strip of grass between the sidewalk and the street. I've yet to find them growing in someones yard, but almost always on a north/south facing slope. Maybe i'm finding a lot of them because I hunt a lot, but I haven't found anything but stuntzii for about a week and a half now. Looked around Seattle area the other day with no success after 8 hrs, so I tend to stay on the east side.

Have you found it rather ordinary and comfortable to walk about freely?

Yes and no. When ordinary people walk by and see me picking, they are mostly curious as to what I'm doing. Some times I'll have people come out of their house cuss they see me walking in circles staring at the ground. I'm even more comfortable when I have several different species in my bag. That way if a cop asks me what I'm doing, I'll just politely answer, "looking for edible mushrooms", and show him some. 9/10 times, they won't second guess you, especially if you drop some scientific names. Most people are just curious. The only time I'm uncomfortable about hunting is when little kids see me. It makes me wonder if they will start eating mushrooms they see growing. Then I have to explain to their parents to make sure their child NEVER eats mushrooms they find.

Old woman: Oh look, whats that young man there doing in the bushes Old man: No worries dear, its just a hippy, hes probably hugging them
Cop: May I ask what your up to? Me: I'm quietly depicting between Tubaria furfuracea and Gymnopus dryophilus, they both look relatively the same, yet some of these specimens for sure have veil remnants around the cap margin, what would your guess be? Cop: Not my job to decide. *leaves*
Some Lady: Can I help you? Me: No Some Lady: Well stop hurting that bush
Some College Bro: BO0O0O0OMMMMEERRRSSS BRRAAAHHH!!!
Some Tweaker: Are you collecting earthworms?

Thus, we must treat ourselves like we are guests. Accommodations must be made for life all over the planet. The power of life is incredibly diverse, intelligent, and intricate in its adaptability. good advice. learn scientific names and info about mushrooms other than the psychedelic ones. get the lingo down. don't act suspicious like you're out doing something you shouldn't be. be knowledgeable and kind. don't dress like a hippie. no offense to hippies. collect several varieties of mushrooms in case a cop stops you.
in really sketchy areas i sometimes bring a clipboard and a vest. NO ONE questions a guy with an official looking clipboard. weird.
if you really want to look at mushrooms in someones front yard, don't be afraid to knock on the door and ask. tell them you're studying to become a mycologist and need samples or something. this has worked for me.
but the method i normally use is just to bring a camera. as i walk i'll take normal pictures of trees or clouds or two dogs fucking. when i spot mushrooms i just get close and visually inspect them as i take a couple pictures. if they're inactives i just keep on walking. if they're good i either pick them or come back for them later.
that way you'll also have better pics to post on here.

I just got back from an 1 1/2 walk. nice and short, but I had my camera snapping all the way. No one gave me a second look as I was snapping shots left and right. Closest thing I found to an active was more Amanitas, but also I got pics of a good 30 species I've never seen before, and had a great time.

I found some really nice BLG's today....
Its a spot I like to drum at close to my house. I found some last year at this time off of the same tree also. I know there is debate wither or not the ones on the west coast are active, but I ate the 3 smaller ones already earlyer today, and I felt very nice indeed, a solid level 2 trip.....

Brought home a couple to dry. Haven't decided if I'll give it a shot or not, but should I want to I'll have a couple on hand. I hear the low dose can be rather nice. Seems the bigger and older they are, the less appealing they appear. Several were huge but looked rather soggy Here was one spot
Also I read through the search engine that the younger ones tend to have a higher potency, I just thought they looked more appetizing
