This is a bad photo taken with a camera phone.  I didn't take this, but told a friend of mine who owns a bunch of property about the fruits of our region.  She was excited and curious, so she went on a hunt. I gave her as much info as I had and linked her to several photos.

She came back with this:  Are these them?

No.  Gills are too light.

Are these P. Weili?  My initial thought is no, but I have seen so many different looking Weili in my Internet research.  They bruise green/blue, a little more green than blue in fact, but the blue is still present.  They have the "nipple" often cited in Weili but it is not black as some have said it should be.  Any thoughts at all are much appreciated.

Peace

Those are probably Chlorophyllum molybdite if the gills are green. It's toxic.

True true.  I did some more cross referencing based on your suggestion of species and you are exactly correct it would seem.  Thanks.

is a 25 gram weilii(wet) equal , greater, or lesser in potency than 25 grams of say 6 or so smaller wet weilii? with my experiences with this particular species, I kinda need to know before I indulge. =]

from my experience, there's no way to tell unless you just take it. There's no definitive way to say how much psilocybin/psilocin each mushroom contains. I've take a single mushroom that was maybe 1 gram dry and had a full on trip.

In your example, I would say 25g of 6 weilii may be stronger because some of those 6 may have slightly higher levels of psilocybin/psilocin than average.

This week has been hell, I have been down with the flu for 5 days. Today was the first day I could get out and look all week.

Lets just say, this will be my last day hunting the great weilii for awhile. I found the largest amount of any other time hunting and have figured the thrill is now gone.

There is nothing I want or need from these mushrooms, so all the insects, briars, cuts, and scrapes are just not worth it.

I see others on here have been reporting great finds and hope all will continue to add to this post. I will compile today's pics and more data to post at a later date. I can guarantee these new pics will be worth the wait. I have never seen anything of this magnitude before.

I wish everyone luck and encourage you to get out asap!

Here are just a few pics of what I saw today. I tried to get the best overview shots, so you can get a birds eye view of where to look. There was brush removed in most areas so my camera would focus in on the ground area.

Also, lost many pictures, my battery was running low and for some reason the camera did not keep my last 20 pics.

Thanks, I am trying to focus on the habitat and not the individual mushroom. If you take a look at the last pic you will notice there are several in this little area alone. Look along the bigger branches, the weilii like to grow from under the logs and bigger branches in most cases. Most of the pics have so many that are hard to pick up due to me downsizing the pics.

Have you had any luck yet? Hope you went out today, if not really try tomorrow. From what I saw, there are hundreds of little new ones just sprouting. Especially in clusters.

I will post the good pics later.

Are any of the common look alikes dangerous? A guy a few years back claimed to have found weilii and gave me one to take. I ate it and nothing happened. looked alot like weiloii but its gills were light tan to white and the cap liiked similar but alot lighter in color.

Todays hunt went well aside from the rain. This was a new area that i wasnt familiar with. Its also the first time ive ever found them growing in bermuda grass. These seem to be healthier than the woodland varieties ive encountered. These were found in Paulding County

This last picture is of a very rare plant (herb) called Indian Pipe

----------------------------------------------
The translucent, flowering plant known as the Indian Pipe is a perennial that relies on small, wood-rotting fungi for nutrients that enable its growth.

While considered an herb, the Indian Pipe (Monotropa uniflora) is not green, but rather a translucent white plant that grows as a clump of stalks averaging seven inches high, which have scales on the stem and flowery heads drooping at the top. The flowers bear a small fruit that has very small seeds.

The plant%u2019s color can vary from white, to pinkish, to white with black spots. An herb that closely resembles the Indian Pipe is the reddish-colored Pinesap (Monotropa hypopitys), sometimes called %u201CDutchman%u2019s Pipe.%u201D

Indian Pipes Don%u2019t Manufacture Food by Photosynthesis
The Indian Pipe, also known as %u201CCorpse Plant,%u201D %u201CGhost Flower,%u201D or %u201CFits Root,%u201D is found across North America in shady woodland areas and temperate Asia, Central and South America. In the U.S. it can be found from mid-summer to early fall, as the warmer months produce the right conditions of moisture and temperature necessary for growth.

Unlike green plants, which contain chlorophyll to aid in the process of photosynthesis%u2014the use of sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water to carbohydrates, which feed the plant%u2014the Indian Pipe does not contain chlorophyll. It turns from its waxy, white form to black when it is picked, damaged or dried out. Because it does not rely on photosynthesis, the Indian Pipe can grow in very dark conditions.

Once Known as a Saprophyte
The Indian Pipe was once thought to be a %u201Csaprophyte%u201D%u2014a plant that obtains its nutrients from decaying organic matter on the forest floor. Mushrooms, and some mosses and ferns have been called saprophytes. According to Carol Gracie, who wrote the article %u201CIndian Pipe%u2014Summer Ghost of the Forest%u201D for the Bedford, New York, Audubon Society's web site, the term %u201Csaprophyte%u201D is obsolete.
