Just like most of my actives. Landscaping is the key.

Have you ever found an active before? I have found hundreds of Cyans within blocks of my house, along with Stuntzii, and a few Baeos. All in landscaped areas.

Here in Washington it is all about the woodchips, and sometimes the grass.

It was like 80 the last few days before the rain here in Seattle as well, but the Baeo's I have found have all been sprinkled. They must like the warm weather and high humidity.

I'm finding mine in suburban landscaping. The Baeocystis are coming from condos and apartments.

Would it be inaccurate to say that any type of woodchip used in landscaping is potentially fair game for psilocybes??

Anything aromatic is very tough for any mycelium to colonize. Cedar is especially bad.

they like hardwood mulch
typically alder, maple, etc.
alder is best, and most commonly used

I was just talking about Psilocybes in general.

These are the first P. baeocystis I have ever found, and yes they were in an area that P. cyanescens easily could have grown.

What is the type of wood used that is that really red bark dust. Thats mostly what I've been seeing around, And most of what I've found mushroom wise were in that bark also. I was under the impression alder was that very light tan color wood used in playgrounds, tuns almost white/gray with age when dry, more of a darker gray when wet. Is that not alder?

No, not yet..I've been looking in public landscaped areas around here, but no actives. Then again, I've only lived here for about a month. I still have exploring to do.

You guys are so lucky to live up north and have a chance at finding actives on wood mulch and the likes. Here in FL all we got(mainly) are cubes. It's been nice and rainy for the past few days with mild to hot temps(77F-87F) and I haven't found any recently. A friend and I will go looking again here in the next few days. Really hope we find something.
