they let locals walk through.
and few of them......... like maybe 5 total?

I don't think an organization would be able to do that, the ecosystem out there is fairly fragile and I don't know how they would feel about a big group of people walking all over the soft STEEP terrain.

Plus, you would be robbing all the locals who already do a good job of sustainably harvesting and sharing with others.

well its not much, but the Gymns are STILL fruiting. the luteofolius tend to fruit just about any month that its not super cold and raining everyday. they are a fairly versatile mushroom as far as substrate and season. almost all year, and on so many things from woodchips to logs to processed 4X4 planks etc.

as seen above, growing on mulched pine chips on the side of the road.

late season rains, a bit unusual on May 28, 2010, downtown San Francisco

Oh little panaeolus
how doth thou springeth forth?
hark! Is that the future we see?
Late season rains bring bigger patches in 5 months?
We shall see

brand new mushroom art went up earlier today near 14th and Mission in San Francisco

details here

I had nothing to do with this artwork..I happened upon it by pure chance during my day job

it's one heck of a coincidence, especially when the group related, San Francisco environmental group(s), planted tiny plots of Scotts Naturescapes, Sierra Red just 30 feet away

erm....never mind, they painted over it...apparently somebody in the building complained about the evil mushroom art..did you know that mushroom art can cause headaches and amnesia?...LOL

this is what it looks like now...I'm told I may have the only exiting photo of the original mushroom art, since it was up for only 1 day. They hinted they might try it elsewhere tho, and I told them I'd always come and photograph it, cause you never know, with this war on mushroom art and everything..sheesh

what's really funny is that these artists got permission from the building owner in the first p;lace, and in conjunction with the San Francisco parks trust, planted 4 patches of Scotts Sierra Red Mulch on the street side of the building

now they might get the real thing, never mind the artwork

:whistling:
