Dont lose hope my friend!! Im in the same boat you are. Ive been looking everywhere and still no luck!! Ive been searching for at least 3 hours a day everyday for the past 2 weeks. Ive been looking in places that would appear to be susceptible for weilii to grow( near rivers where loblolly pines and sweetgum trees grow abundantly and also near pine beetle infested areas) The areas have not really been too disturbed in the last 10 yrs or so though. I wanna find some weilii soooo bad but ive also heard of people looking for years without a find!! I say we just LET IT RAIN and let the weilii come to us!! I would love to see better pictures of habitats for weilii if anyone could help us out a little more!! Thanks for all the tips and awesome pics though people... every little bit helps!! Enjoy the rain cuz i know i will

I was watching the weather on the news last nite and they were showing the radar map of the current rain. I swear to god that it looked like a huge green spore print over north GA. Call me crazy but I toke the day off to go huntin'

My patches were growing today, but they were only babies. Too small for me to take them and feel good about it, so I took one from each patch and am about to enjoy them fresh... Going back tommorow or the day after for the full harvest. Rain and clouds should be sticking around, I have some high hopes for monsters!

depends on the weather.. the later in the season and the colder it gets, they start to take a little more time. But it's still early. I'd say 2-3 days after rain is prime. Especially if it's rainy then sunny the next day

i dont know what to call it. it's definitely not a yard,they were growing out of wood mulch. the area is woodsy, but it's also somewhat of a high traffic area.

N.GA I had a few questions,
the areas you are finding them in, what are you looking for from the car? huge areas of downed pines? or small areas?
I know once i first started finding the ones in the pinestraw i always just kinda knew what to look for after that, and im sure its the same for you now that you know exactly what you are looking for. Id love to find a spot like that if just for the purpose of photography but just wondered how large these infected areas are? Also how far back are you walking? Id assume they grow like that all around here you just have to be looking in the right spot. Tips or more habitat pics of just what the area looks like would be cool. nice finds man thats pretty awsome.

Today i got lucky and managed to hunt in a perfect window between heavy showers. It went well, i also have a few questions.
First of all i was seeing these all over the place, they look a lot like weilii only they smell kind of musty and they are colored differently.
see the similarities?

it was so weird to see them growing out of the mud. the rain has been pretty serious. the next few days are going to be interesting.
