The gills are a bit funny looking to me, none of them are Libs I reckon.

Sure thanks for the help. I'll wait a bit for the season to get off the ground. Anyway it's been a learning experience drying them and whatnot.

I photographed some other ones that weren't in that pile - can anyone identify these?

I think the final ones are lib cap lookalikes, the rusty colour gives them away? I've forgotten the name at the mo.

Err, my camera's not very good. I tried taking a few pics when I first found it but they look terrible, there's not much detail at all so it would be pointless posting them on here. I'll just wait til next time I find some because this one's a bit dry now, and I'll try and use my mates camera

When you find your first lib there will be very little doubt in ur mind as to what it is, soon as you see it you'll know it.

the look-a-likes really don't look much a like when you know a few minor details.

evening all! just a question about how the weathers affecting your seasonb in the uk, im in ireland so i imagine things are pretty similar, been shrooming for about three or four years now and never took the time to pay attention to just how much the weather influences growth. i just checked the forecast for my area and it seems to be consistently 18C during the day and 8 or 9c at night. are the day time temps far too hot to make hunt tomorrow worth while?

Was told there is nothing doing in Kerry yet. In Cork myself.

Found around 20 small ones in a front lawn of a house but nothing in my usual spot. You could try but I'm going to wait another week or two.

Been picking liberty caps for about 3 years now.
But this year the batches Ive picked have been spoiled by what looks like fleas.
There seems to be a lot of them coming out of the cap.
Is this normal?
Ive picked hundreds of them in previous years and never came across fleas in them.
I thought it was maybe a 1 off, so i went down the next day to pick, and i was even blowing in every cap to see if fleas came out.
I took them out the bag at the end of the pick and rakes of fleas were on them again.
Do you think it, is just the field I'm picking them on?
Lots of dogs get walked there every day.

Fleas, could you be a little bit more specific.
Also, why do Libs pop up on lawns before any in the fields?

Fleas, like as in animal fleas.
My cat had fleas when it was younger and they look the exact same as them.
The park i got them from is a big park that people play football on and there is also alot of dog walkers.

I once picked some shrooms that were covered in someones ashes lol.
Didn't know at the time, it just looked like people had been lighting little fires around the area.
It wasn't till a few weeks later when i saw some ash arranged in a crucifix that it suddenly dawned on me,, .

Questions like can you tell me where this field is please it looks top! are not allowed due to the hunting forum rules:

7. No requesting or revealing specific locations.
Locations NOT allowed: Business names, government buildings, shopping centers, pasturelands, when specific directions are given to a location, or any place with an address. Use common sense about what might be considered a specific location. When in doubt, do the moderators a favor and just don't say it.

ello people, 'fucks goin on with this weather!!!???? i live in ireland which is supposedly a wet, manky and miserable climate at the best of times but suddenly, the moment that kind of weather would come in useful, it stops. never been so annoyed in my life. and i second pizzastrings question about libs fruiting on lawns far before any other locations, can anybody give a definite answer on that? and i come across something disgusting contaminating libs at least once every year, last halloween i was contently munching away when i spotted maggots crawling out of the caps of several of my little babies. slimy bastards. alls ya can do is wash the fuck out of them and try to make sure the fleas have jumped ship. id imagine if you dry them out then whatever the bugs are would probably up sticks and leave anyway.anybody had any luck lately hunting? all my spots are bare. it seems the only thing missing is the rain. temps are good and weve had foggy dewy misty mornings and nights. im even tempted to go and attack my front lawn with a watering can, it fruits like crazy in good conditions. desperate times!

I had a little walk on saturday and no liberty caps were popping up. I only spotted a few Conocybes in the grass.

Loving the warm weather though! :sun:
