Here are just a few spore prints.

If I bury pieces of the newspaper with spore prints, will that reproduce?

Evaporation? He didn't mean for you to cook it. I think you misunderstood that.

As a matter of fact, a backpack sprayer would work like a charm.

Apply as much as you like, the most important part is the solution being rich with billions and billions of spores.

Even though Psilocybe weilii are wood decomposers, they won't grow directly from wooden logs and they won't grow in grass. In this thread you already explained a couple of times the perfect habitat for them. There is a reason why you are finding them by the thousands. They obviously like it there. You want to find spots where there is wooden debris (possibly covered in grass for preferable micro-climate). You can help it by artificially making such a habitat, by scattering mulch, bark, twigs and branches and partly covering it with a mix of soil and leaves, etc.

Quote:

The spores actually live through the boiling process?

No. Boiling them will kill them. Alan said "bring a cooking pot", not "cook them".

Quote:

Is this brew active?

Yes. Psilocybin and psilocin are water soluble. But the spores in "the brew" (again, DON'T cook it!) aren't active. That's why spores of active mushrooms are actually legal in most places. They don't contain any controlled substance, not even traces of it, only the genetic code for producing the substance.

My misunderstanding, luckly I asked. Will the mushrooms still be active once soaked or do those just get thrown away?

If you pour the spore water through a colander, what remains in the colander will still be active, just a little less.
However, I wouldn't use any mushrooms you still intend to eat for doing that. You literally found more than you'll ever be able to consume. Just make the spore water and then toss the ones used. Keep and dry the rest.

Weilii range? [Re: northgahunt]
    #10997464 - 09/04/09 05:58 AM (2 years, 8 months ago)

My blood pumps fast at the mere sight of the photos... nice find! Does anyone know the range of Weilii? I live down in the lowcountry (Savannah to Charleston)and I'm always on the hunt. I too probably appear to have some vision disorder as I'm always dipping my head down and squinting off into the distance... Primal!

I'm going to go out today and focus on only the dead pine habitat you are describing. Also, Since you probably don't need all those weiliis you could just collect the spores in mass quantity for future use or whatever. But if I'm right, correct me if I'm wrong, spores are illegal in GA. too.

I do agree with you on this issue, Hall/Forsyth Co. would love to make a huge deal out of something like this.
But unfortunely "I have no idea what your talking about"

Most of the water is lost by being soaked up by the thousands of mushrooms you are putting in.  But they are already wet so if you squeeze them well its not very much.

1) Put hundreds of clusters of mature P. weilii into a cooking pot full of water, wringing them out for a couple minutes to get all the spores off of them.

2) When you are done the water will be so purple that you can barely see through it.  I spent about a half hour putting mushrooms in, washing the spores off, wringing the water out of the bits, throwing the mashed mushrooms at new wood and putting in fresh clusters of mushrooms.

Could you use a back pack sprayer to apply and how much should be applied?

That is exactly what happened but I don't have pictures of that part.  The water was filtered through a few layers of window-screen type mesh so it didn't clog the sprayer, then sprayed around disturbed habitats that had lots of dead and buried wood.  Also the straight spore solution was poured on piles of woody debris and sawdust.  If you have a sawmill or any place that has a whole lot of sawdust in your area, put the spores there.

Since the spore solution I made was extremely strong, we diluted it with about ten parts water before spraying.  Probably could have been diluted more and remained effective, it was still deep purple after dilution.  Its important to use the spore solution within a day or 2 so bacteria doesn't eat the spores and make it smell bad.

Another way is to pick a big box of old mushrooms and then throw them at anything resembling dead wood / decent Psilocybe habitat.

Everything's illegal in georgia.  Good money in chain gangs.  Anyway, there's rabies in Hall county, so don't feed any friendly wildlife.

Just wanted to give hope to those in Jackson County. I decided to put my pine beetle theory to work again and drove to Jackson County. It took me about an hour to find an infected area, another 25 minute walk and just over an hour to pick. The qty was the same, literally 1000's just the size was shorter and not as many 4-6 in caps. So far my theory has lead to huge finds. This was my third time ever hunting these and I believe this type of habitat is prime for these shrooms. I actually spent over an hour spreading them throughout specific locations in the woods hoping they would take in the future.

Just to clarify some questions I would like to tell everyone that my searches have only been in pine beetle infected areas. My guess is that the trees have been infected for at least two years. Also after taking pictures (for my records) I discard these shrooms back into the woods since I have no use for these.

Typically when driving, I look for the damaged areas of the forest. Look for the areas that seem to have a few trees dead but still standing. Usually there will be several dead ones around them that are decomposing on the ground. Once you find this type of environment, you will find these.

I only documented these finds to show that they are quite easy to locate and to help out others who are interested. In no way am I trying to brag or promote anything illegal. After all I really am not qualified to know what type of mushroom I am finding, so please do not consume any of the mushrooms that I have located. I am not a trusted source.

Good Luck!

This is my third patch, I really don't plan on telling anyone where I found them but have given enough info to hopefully help them find there own.

Realistically, what could anyone do with this many? I tried some from each patch and would have to agree these are quite special compared to any other species I have had. Very visual on low doses, clean too.
