you are thinking wrong. those are, whether you like it or not, a Coprinoid mushroom. given their growth habit on wood i'd start with one of the species near Coprinellus micaceus.

Nice finds everyone! Went for a walk with the dog today and found some Panaeolus cinctulus / subbalteatus. I checked my Cyan patches and nothing yet.

Also those are not cubes. Cubes don't grown in this area outdoors, and nowhere near it.

Not sure if they are considered "active" but found near the Pasayten Wilderness under some spruce trees while mining. Ate 3 young buttons and they gave me a pleasant, euphoric feeling for about 3 hours.
