9.9.09
Psilocybe stuntzii

A little dried out...

Please try and keep this thread to *confirmed* active mushrooms.  This is not a thread to ID mushrooms.

I got a few pastures that I'm going to check out tomorrow.

Quick question. I've read to look for liberty caps in grassy fields where cows and sheep used to graze. Are horse fields good places to check as well?

Sorry I'm a new mushroom hunter. Tried searching for the answer but couldn't find.

psilocyboid, that first pic of yours gave me that genuine 'Shroomery feeling'. I thought I'd forgotten about it, but I still got that psilocybian preparatory thrill tucked away somewhere :awesome: You brought it out there for a second

can someone please point out the difference between a stuntzi and a cyan? Last season was my first one hunting and found about 7 dry ounces of cyans. I was also looking for other species , but when I would look at some pics they look like cyans. Just curious how I can tell them apart if I find one.

Stuntzii are usually chestnut brown, not caramel color like cyans (at least when mature), and they have an annulus (ring) on the stem that usually has a blue tint. Cyans have a whitish, firm stem (with no annulus), and stuntzii have a dingy yellowish brown color stem. Stuntzii sometimes have wavy caps, but tend to be more convex or plane.

Too bad that walk is like a 20 mile hike to the other side of Vancouver lol.

I will just go check back when it rains some more...if there are stuntzii growing there before, they should be back right?
