Wow haven't posted at this site in almost 4 years, since I was 16. Lol, the years go by, I am now deciding to hunt this year. I'm jus curious as to find other psilocybes this time around, rather than the wood lovers...etc cyans. I plan to look for some ps. semilanceata(liberty Caps). They don't really seem as abundant in the PNW as the wood lovers, and I'm questioning if they are out yet, due to the lack of finds in this thread. I know at this time, the cyans aren't really full throttle till the end of October where I am, but how about the liberty caps? Any info will be appreciated.

It's official, Portland cyans are up! I checked a couple patches I know and the one without sprinklers wasn't showing any signs yet. Looks like the season finally arrived in PDX Should be full swing in a couple weeks.
So where i live i am less inland than Portland and about an hours drive south of Portland, so should our season be similar? Because i have found no cyan's yet. But there has been lots of rain lately i might go hunt today.
mod edit: Changing the reply-to field and leaving the msg alone.
I live around the same area and have not had much luck with lots of looking. Been out every day this week and hiked around looking through berry bushes and the like but it sounds like we need to wait a little longer before much shows. The cool part is that there are plenty of non actives to hone our skills at identifying. Good luck and keep us posted.

Libs can be quite plentiful on the OR Coast and i would not say they arent as abundant as woodlovers, I just dont think as many people are looking for them as often. People often keep/maintain/accumulate Cyan patches for years so we see large yields and finds often. I would bet the Libs are out right now and probably have been for a bit.

Libs are out for sure. I've found tons already. I don't bother with posting about them simply because (and this probably goes for a few people) I don't find them as interesting as the wood lovers.
If your after libs, the cow pastures are pretty full right now (at least they are in my area).
Cheers!

all that's left is the stem... I'm happy to post a nice pic of that, though the only identifying feature is the veil.

My cyan patches have started to produce pins. I even found 2 mature ones.
One of my Gym logs is also pinning!
I can't wait until the season really starts off, I'm looking to find some species this year that I haven't found in the past.

Sad thing ya know. Out on my lunch yesterday and I stopped dead in my tracks thinking I had found my first patch. They were all still small pins, but first off, they were in that dark beauty bark where I didn't expect them to grow. So I picked up one and noted the white stem, Carmel color cap, but the gills though still immature, were also more of a Carmel color, not the dark chocolate I'd expected. So I tossed it back, muttered for the next mile back to work. After seeing the gill color on those pics, I'll be heading out in a bit to go re investigate. Those are some very nice pics,

Nope, these are feral, however they are known to grow on my road (I think also feral, the landowner had no interest in them). They might be escaped from a patch some years ago, but these are pure opportunists

Although it is very uncommon, it is possible for cyans to grow from bark.

I was quite surprised myself, but then again I always seem to find cyans fruiting in the most unexpected areas..

I don't think thats bark, looks more like douglas fir chips. Hard to say for sure though. Nice mushrooms.
