Yes, especially with the police.  If they find out that you have any mushrooms they will break down your door, especially in Georgia.  When the judge sees how many you have he will send you to prison for many years.  Be extremely careful, do not sell any or give any away while you have that kind of weight around.

Please take lots of habitat shots, I would like to see many pictures of the clusters.

Is this a natural area or was it disturbed by humans?

This is so the ultimate geocaching game, you get a map but no coordinates, all complete with fellow travelers and woodland spirits and bad guys.

so wholesome.

To all those that inquired about the environment/habitat that these were found in, this is where you should find them in qty. I feel quite positive about this method, because yesterday evening I went out to another location just like this and it had thousands of weilii just as the first location.

For those that live in GA, you may have noticed damaged/dead pine trees in groups caused by the pine beetle. Look for areas that the trees have fallen down, you will notice that these are open areas(surrounded by woods), not well traveled by man (at least in my case) with lots of pine bark, needles and debris.

My locations were found within 20 minutes each and both loaded. These areas also produced a lot of Amanita muscaria var. formosa, especially in the spring. I spotted about 15 or so though yesterday.

Where to look; near fallen branches, pine bark, edge of open area to forest, under logs(found several here). Hope this is enough info, and good luck.

My next venture is the islands, they have a similar habitat. Here are a  few more pics, notice surroundings. Some pics were impossible due to the coverage from debri.

did you, by chance, snap any images of the forest?

how far did you have to hike into the woods?

Were you mushroom hunting when you found them?  or did you stumble across them?

If you were mushroom hunting, were you specifically looking for weilii?

just curious, because I could see someone stumbling across a patch like this...another good reason to always keep your eyes open no matter what your doing!

I must look really weird to other people around me, because my eyes are always glued underneath bushes and on front yards and grassy patches. I never look ahead of me, but always sideways checking for mushrooms, even when I am in the middle of the city.
