No, I haven't checked. I figured, if they are there, I will leave them to drop spores, if they can in this cold. They were good to me, so I'll stop tearing them up.

There still out as of yesterday. There are still new ones sprouting as well.
The other day I carefully picked some with myc still attached to base and transplanted them into new areas. I ended up with about 20 new locations, hopefully some will take.
My problem is that I may find them one day but forget where they are the next. This happened where I found the biggest woodlands. I know where the general area is, but never have been able to find the exact location. It starts to all look the same when your in the thick of it.
I am going to try and go hunting once a week this year until I can't find anymore. I think that the woodland will still be growing in Dec, at least at the beginning.

well there sure isn't any big woodlands down here this fall made visible to me, and i've covered some ground by now, spending quality time with orange mushrooms (there's actually some interesting ones in their midst)
I think anything i found hunting these outlying counties must have been cultivated by car tires passing through atlanta.
shame though, such a waste of good putnam pine kills
northga, if i sneak back up your way, and find your big piles, i'm not telling you where they are
But seriously, i think the spoils this year definitely go to northga, and couldn't have gone to a nobler guy, nga, you treated these superfinds really, really well, responsibly, respectfully and generously - props to you and many thanks for your educational contributions

OK I have a question. Most publications refer to stems as stems. This site, and a few Wikipedia articles (written mainly by members of this site) refer to stems as stipes. Why is this, and is either term more scientifically correct? All of the mushroom books I have refer to "stems." I know that either term is correct, just wondering why "stipe" seems to be the favorite on this board.
One thing is interesting: the spelling checker on this site does not seem to recognize the word stipes. I guess that is because it is plural?

Wimy, I love your new signature. I think you are offering a very valuable service. I may have to start my own lawn service to rid folks of this evil mushroom.

$50 to mow the yard, Free to do a thorough search for weilii. and $25 for weilii removal... But you must search before you mow!

Thanksgiving is coming soon. Do you remember the story of the weilii turkey dressing? The family was over, and had no idea about what was in that dressing, but it was so good! Then everything starts to look really cool... Brighter colors... Did you hear that?

How about at the Hosea Williams feed the hungry event? I know that there are a few that do, but I don't think too many colored folks eat mushrooms. I can just imagine a bunch of colored folks running around tripping their balls off, and have never tripped before. Who knows, it might reduce crime for a night.
