Here are some habitat shots from this mornings weilii log hunt. I think it would of been better to wait another day or two. It was still really wet out. This location was within 20' from a main rd. and was very difficult to hunt because of all the traffic. I was crouching and hiding half the time.
Habitat shots from a distance, this area has more new growth than I prefer but what the hell.

Now lets get into the thick of it and see if this spots worth it. Any log loving weilii hiding in here?

Well was it worth it? Personally I would rather go on a dry day/

The road was behind me and to the right. I haven't got used to my camera yet, otherwise I would try and take pics from the street in.

****** *** **...wasn't sure if I could give the name of a rd. I have learned a lot for sure, each time I find them, there is something interesting on how and where they grow. My system has worked well, I am interested in seeing if I can find these all the way till December.

Very cool...I checked 2 of my spots today and found no new growth, just some rotten ones from last time I was there at the first spot, and 3 small ones at the other spot. I was out of town over the weekend, so I missed if it rained any, was sprinkling on me when I was searching. I'll check again in a couple of days. I may have to run over that way and see if I can find that spot...I know lots of good places around that surface road you mentioned and some of the surrounding roads that fit that description!! Maybe a friend will let me park in his driveway and walk around..

Sorry, no habitat shots. I left my camera at home today, but I had a pretty good haul, so I figured I'd share. These were found in Olympus Mons' bermuda grass spot and about 100 yds. away under pinestraw on a hill beneath some bushes along with a few clusters about 100 yds. in the other direction in fescue.
This the biggest one I picked, it was under the pinestraw. There were a few larger, but they looked a little skanky

These were under the pinestraw as well. Notice how fat and long the stipes are

The rest were found in bermuda grass, I only picked the ones looking extremely healthy. Here is a few pics of my shoebox full. None of the others looked special enough to photograph separately

They look nice, especially the pine straw finds. Were the pine straw finds in the woods or at the edge? I haven't searched in pines straw as of yet.
Are you breaking OlympusMon's balls...he said he is about to give up and now your saying you found some in his spot. Maybe that's why hes not finding any, because your getting there first...lol

haha when i said i was gonna give up i meant i was giving up on finding a woodland patch, the spot where he found those is still quite active. The pinstraw is just outside of the the treeline and leads up into bermuda grass. The funny thing about this spot is that there doesnt seem to be any weilii in the wooded spots at all.

My fescue spot is similar in that it is close to the type of pine woods northgahunt documents so accurately, yet there are no weilii in the woods.

Odd and slightly irritating. I've noticed anecdotal evidence speaking to the pine woodland weilii being more prevalent in the northern range of the weilii counties.

Whats odd is that I have yet to find any in the grasses or pinestraw near my areas. The weilii I hunt are log lovers, they mainly grow from underneath.

Not so odd considering you have no reason to look in bermuda or fescue since you have the mother lode in the woods
