Someone told me that the pictures I posted were Marasmius Oreades (non active)....but is this not incredibly similar?

which one is it? Is mine different? Are they the same? Can someone clear this up?
If this is a pic of what you posted, then my first instinct is that its a weilii. Did you take a spore print? Any bruising?
I have seen a lot of so called weilii posted on this site lately, some of these look nothing like the weilii I have ever seen and there is no way I would even try them. Weilii have a very distinct smell that gives them away and there looks are pretty distinctive.
That is 100% Ps. weilii.

Here are a few found near an abandoned park on north lake lanier. The last 3 pics had unusual light gills and bluing. These also had the typical smell, just looked a little off.

My intent was to see if they were still growing 6 days after rain. I picked a few to mix in the soil nearby.
BTW, I did find a bunch in one of the areas I sprayed. I just dont know if they just happened to grow there natural or that the spore juice really works. The area looked prime before I sprayed it.
How bout you, any luck?

Guys im getting pretty depressed after seeing these...
After all that rain i was out every day. I walked my dog on numerous trails and that might of been the problem. Cause i cant really hunt well with my dog (7 months still kind of a puppy). But on a few of those days i was solo and hunting different parks on lake lanier. Still i found nothing. I must be looking in the wrong place because its not for lack of effort that im finding nothing. I mean i was in damaged pine areas that were in clearings...damaged pines in deeper forest....pines in grass...nothing.
I really dont know what i am doing wrong and i just recently got my license revoked (dui) so its stressful driving around town. All my friends arent really into this type of thing. I mean im willing to sacrifice driving and going to jail to hunt these. BUT dammit if i cant find any whats the point? Its kinda depressing knowing that they are there but being unable to find them...i thought my karma was good.
help?

No. North Georgia only, check the wikipedia article for the counties.

I would try leaving the dog home, when your in the thick of it plan on getting cut up. Maybe I should post a little sign in a prime area that reads, Odum look here!.
Now if I were to go look in grassy areas, then I would have no luck at all. I have never found one in the grass.
The woodland are the easiest and have large qty's.I have found over a dozen areas and they all produce. Make sure there is a shit load of debri from the fallen pines, and check for new growth pines nearby. Check all around the decaying pine logs and at the bases of the baby pines. Usually a cluster of baby pines has weilii growing at the base. In most cases you can't see them from just walking around, they like to hide under thick cover. You may find a stray or two growing in the direct open, thats about it.

I think it is possible, especially north of GA area where there is still red clay. I wonder if someone were to spray the spores in S.C. and N.C., if they would grow. The weather is very close and they both have the same red clay.

I haven't found any this season yet either; had many close calls and heartbreaks, too. The key is to have fun hunting for all shrooms, period. If you are not having fun hunting why even look?

The mushroom is very fickle, it is not everywhwere in Ga. It is still setting up shop as it were in the Atl. metro area, but not fully wide spead. Keep hunting and keep on keeping on. Find a buddy to drive for you ,It is not worth the bullshit of driving w/o a liscence. Life is hard enough as it is, and they keep on making more difficult, the justice system is lit. choking buisness to death in this county, laws upon laws, freedom is dying. sucks. Try mushroom hunting under martial law or kodex alimentarius.

Yeah i dont know man thanks for the info and yeah its 90% of my hunting has been in the woods. I mean i usually hunt on this one park that has an island and a covered bridge leading to it. The island is covered in pines mostly and more than a few are dead or dying. How much debris are you lifting up to find these. Last week i found an area where a few pines had fallen and made a trail you could walk down. I cant imagine a better place so i spent a good deal of time looking under limbs and other dead wood. I looked and looked only to find other mushies.
I guess its just me. Unless you are some type of master hunter.

I just started hunting weilii last month. I am no master hunter, maybe just lucky or I am onto something. I am guessing I have found at least 20,000 of them all in similar areas.
If you look at my photos you will see there is hardly any pine straw on the ground. The areas all seem to have water washed through them during a heavy rain. I have never found any growing out of the pine straw.
As for the rotted logs, you will see them pushing up from underneath. Lift the log and you will find a few clusters trying to push through. On large branches they will actually push through in areas. You will see parts of the caps, lift the debri up and this is where the thick stalk large ones are. I think they get so stout because of the weight bearing on them.
Try to look for an area near a creek, pond, or lake that has the dead pine habitat. You will see where the water run off is. This type of habitat is prime.

Eat a weilii prior to going, probably find twice as many. They make you have xray vision.

He does not have any, he has yet to locate a patch, but you may be right, after eating a fresh one last week i rode my bike to a diff, area and located another patch, then started to think they were everywhere, only to find out i was very lucky to find that small isolated patch. Looked for 2 hours in that location but they were only where i firs rode to.

Here is more pics of the white gilled weilii, they smell just like weilii and bruise blue. Gills just have no color.
Just some advanced bruising started.

this is the first year ive found them in grass. But used your advice looking for spots, even in the areas that you said to look in, and zero luck. (weilii wise) im beginning to think you are lucky.

There is strong anecdotal evidence, to say the least, that northgahunt has shroom fairies that guide him to weilii.
