seems like it will be cloudy and maybe drizzly for a couple of days. last few days were warm at night but tonight is pretty cool.
I might go for a look this weekend but Im really not expecting a whole lot.

Yeah I reckon thats the case myself, might have thought it due to rain leeching the active compounds out of the mushrooms in wetter times, or maybe to act as more of a deterrent for bugs. who knows, but thats what i've found also.

So whats everyones opinion on the rain we have been having?
Is it enough to extend the season a bit? Or is it pretty much too late?

mmm in the last two days i've managed to collect 130ish subbs down south 
If anyone finds a white "Suny Erricsun" phone on a search it's mine  i'd really appreciate getting the sim back, the phone is probably broken by now and wasn't that great anyway.

The phone is white and will not bruise blue, most likely inactive. If consumed will most probably leave traces of heavy metals in your system, so eating is not advised.

The habitat would most likely be the start of a pine forest in Second Valley... couldn't really tell you much more than that as it was awhile before i realised it was missing.
You could possibly find this particular mushphone growing next to some metal scissors.
No cap by the way... prepaid :p

Hi people.
I've been meaning to post in this thread for some time now, I'd have liked to have uploaded some photos of some subs found about a month ago though, (hopefully next time). I've been reading in these forums for a good while now, and keeping a special eye on this thread because it's local. I'm very interested, has anyone found a new flush brought about by the recent rains?
I'm very new to hunting, and to magic mushrooms in general, but I've had the interest for many years. This year a mate of mine who's been hunting for nearly 20 years took me and another newbie mate of mine to one of his hunting grounds. At that time, we got about 30 odd subs (that day, and about 5 days after).
Since then, I've returned a couple of times but have found very few subs, but judging by the one patch we found those subs in a month ago, I'm guessing they were there in numbers at some point, they were just found before I got there. I know at least one group was hunting just prior to my arrival 2 or maybe 3 weeks ago because we met briefly, one guy even mentioned this forum (*Hi*).
Anyway, I'm wondering, how long might one expect for a new flush to come through (or even appear) after it has been harvested? The patch we found a month ago has not shown us anything since (checked a few times when it's been wet). Just assuming that no one else had been over it other than me in the last month and weather conditions were perfect, would it be possible for a patch to regenerate in that time? What about the weather over the last 4-5 weeks, (each time there's a bit of rain I get excited, but prior to this last wet, it was rather dry for almost 2 weeks from mem, and not terribly cold either).
I went for a walk Thrusday in the same area over the nice places I'd identified. Found 1 which I'm sure is a sub, 1 which I think is a sub (but it's dried and pale) and 2 which I don't think are subs, but took one anyway to attempt a spore print. I'd found the one definite sub, about 3 weeks prior as a tiny pinhead next to a reasonably mature one. At that time, I took the mature one, and left the baby. I was delighted when I found it Thursday, with the cap all opened out (might be the only prize for the whole trip that day). The nice patch from the first couple of trips was completely bare.
Anyway, sorry for the long winded post. Any information/opinions about how long it might take a patch to regenerate in perfect, and also the recent, weather conditions, greatly appreciated (out kinda north east way, if that makes a difference).

Im not an expert on mushrooms, but a new batch can vary in time depending on rain, sun etc. but i've found that its only about a week or two.

The questions you ask on the cycle of the mysterious is not that easy to answer. It would be very interesting whether an Ex Mycologist knows the answers to the differ cycles of the
I also know of spots that had once produced over the yr(s)and this yr has been very quiet. I also know of spots that hadn't been active for a while and now they are fruiting. Ill give you one example. I went to this location earlier this yr in May,June to be only disappointed. I certainly didn't give up the hunt there, so I went back in the beginning August and to this very day it has continued to fruit.
Their a Mystery inside and out 
I went for a walk yesterday to another location and this habitat was a heavy producer but over the yrs there has been some major forestry work in operation and the place went stale. The forestry work has FOR now stopped ,maybe besides some general weed killing which Ive seen there. Anyway as we are in late August now I found one very healthy fresh The habitat also now looks really promising.
For what I understand most areas should fruit each yr whether that's just once or twice or somewhere else close by where spores have landed is the mystery and if anyone can explain that Ill take my hat off to them. You really never know where or when they will pop up.
What could lead to this mystery of the vanishing once good habitats is either:
Over picking
Destruction of habitat
Forestry work
Unseasonal seasons
Even HA ARP (High Areal Active Research project)
But in the end of the day that took me forever to write this up as its a full on question with so many questions and so little answers.

Hi. Thanks guys for the information. And thanks for the welcome too .
Guess my question is a bit too huge to answer exactly, though from what you guys have told me, it seems possible for a flush of new fruit to appear within a matter of weeks in favourable conditions.
I reckon I just need to go to new areas to find new subs, rather than concentrate on the one like I've done. My reasoning was "I know they grow there, so surely I can expect to find new fruit after all this rain." Well, I'm still new to hunting, so I'm sure to learn much for many years to come. Already this year I've learned much, and I got started so late in the season. It's been great, despite not finding all that many subs.
There's one area a few kilometers away from where I have been hunting that I'd like to check out. Looks good from the outside but have never been there. Hopefully I get the chance this week before the sun dries it too much.
I also keep wondering if the local parks within my suburb (especailly ones with creeks and lots of eucalypts) might be worth checking closely for subs. I'll probably go for a short walk early in the morning tomorrow. Has anyone here had success in such places ever (suburban parks where roads and houses are hardly ever out of view, but have lots of garden-beds and stuff)? Just interested.
Let you guys know how it goes.

Think I will head to the cromer conservation park sometime for photography purposes mainly. Never been there before but it looks like the right habitat for fungus. Was wondering if any of the board members have tried this area for mushies of any type? Will post my findings if anything interesting comes up. For now check out these photos that I took earlier in the season of a white fungus on my walnut tree.

ummagumma, the spot I found at start of season is now fairly useless, with hundreds and hundreds of orange stem/gill fuckers (are they the galernia?). I think there are heaps still around, just not in my spot!!! Although i think the weekend, especially sunday, is a bad time to go because the smart hunters head before the weekend. I have gone during the week before for always a better haul. Hey umma if ya ever keen for hunt let me know, I have a heap of time (im a student) but no transport. That invitation is open to any other hunters too. PM if keen i guess.
Also was it anyone on here that I ran into with two mates last Sunday arvo at second valley? You were right, hardly any...

Regarding extent of season etc Where the first fruiting starts Expect the last to end Same spot.Eg [removed exact location] b4 creek enters sheep paddock is Start n finish.Know that as Season pulls Bac to that spot So do Goats.2ND Vein Runs opposit Not jst up ck And Was unKnown to Goats  There is Fruiting into early octtober Also Once Valley Starts Rain aint essential Although the more rain the longer into October You Can expect fruit
