Panaeolus cinctulus

Panaeolus cinctulus is a cosmopolitan species that grows solitary to gregarious to cespitose on compost piles, well fertilized lawns and gardens, less frequently on horse dung. Spring - Fall . It grows abundantly after rain and is common in Oregon, Alaska, Washington and Northern California, but is also known to occur in all 50 states.

i'v seen active Pans and Cubes growing from what appears to be just grass.  But there is some manure under the grass, and sometimes it's so weathered that it just looks like soil.

Greetings fellow Florida shroomers, I found these growing wild in some enriched soil in the shade, was wondering (hoping) you can accurately identify these for me. Note: there is no noticeable bluing anywhere and the caps made a rusty brown print on paper overnight. very thin white fibrous stems and these mushrooms are quite small, about the size of a quarter, maybe a few a little larger.

I would sincerely appreciate your input & help. Thanks ahead of time.

The skirt thing is the veil that has come off.  No biggie.

You are looking for a nipple shroom w/ blue.

Wow! Went out last night in NW Florida. All I have to say is that the season is definitely in full throttle here in the panhandle of Florida. Went out for about 30 minutes at sunrise and pulled in about 40 beautiful cubes. Unfortunately I don't have pics, but the conditions have been great and the fields are showing it.
Shall be indulging tonight on the beach. Maybe roll back out for another picking at sun-up:) No matter how nice it is to grow shrooms, I still don't think there is any better feeling than finding a nice colony of beauful shrooms poking up above the grass as the sun rises. Happy Shrooming.

So its ok if the shrooms dont have that skirt thing? And they bruise kinda like dark grey/blue. Will the blue be very noticable cause it looks just grey. Sorry for all the questions Im new at this.

Anyone having luck in Gainesville? I haven't scouted out any fields or anything, but I also enjoy woods hunting (ie not just active species) and was wondering how it's been around here.

this week here in central florida, polk county, in two outings, i found 6 cubes and 9 pans.  my biggest cube weighed 14 grams wet and 4 grams dried.  overall though, i think its been too hot lately for too much production.  right now i have 7 grams of dried shrooms.

at least you guys are finding something. my field went from producing amazing shrooms at the begining of the season, to producing less shrooms, and all of them were tiny, to producing nothing worth the effort to hunt for. at this point, it would take 5-6 trips for 2 people to have a nice trip.

This gem was found in south florida...super dark black/purple spores..big meaty cap and metallic orange nipple...heavy stem bluing.

I posted a thread trying to confirm it's identity...obviously it's something active, I'm just not sure what..seems pretty big to me.

several high resolution pics above..very cool looking shroom
