Cures for anxiety?
    #10872714 - 08/16/09 07:59 PM (2 years, 9 months ago)

First off I would like to say, HELLO to you all from this physical realm in which I wish to blast off away from for a while.. hopefully one day soon! I am new to this site, however I have lurked around and about for misc reasons. You see, I have a dilemma here, and let me start.

I have had wonderful experiences with shrooms, lsd(on one working occasion), mdma, dxm, salvia, and of course, the fine greenery that our Earth is blessed with. There are other substances used but I for one am more interested in the psychedelic aspect. The dilemma comes in where I have had a horrible(I mean to the point where I swore I was gonna die and told my family and girlfriend that I love them in tears) anxiety attack on the bus coming home a few days ago and was sent to the hospital. There I was mostly treated like dirt due to no insurance but after hours and hours of waiting in the ER to get seen by a doctor, I finally was able to relax due to some unknown injection to relax me. Boy did that feel great! They gave me an xray of the chest and CT scan of the brain. They said all was well and that I have only inflammitory sinuses(sinusitus) and anxiety. Whatever, I go home still feeling high and sleep. I wake up feeling anxiety so my mom gives me a Lorazepam to calm down(she suffers anxiety for years). Shortly after, I get a call back saying that there was a possible growth shown on the xray and to come in and further inspect. As this fucked me up mentally further I go there and wait countless hours again to get a CT scan for my chest and hours after again, I was told there was definitely a lesion present in my trachea and they admitted me luckily to stay a few nights. Horrible experience as I was terrified for the worse being an anxiety patient and I started feeling pains and all the common anxiety symptoms. After day 2(of 3) in the hospital they performed an ultrasound around my neck to view my thyroids(which I won't get results for a few more days), and they started giving me clonazepam for anxiety, which helps, but I wish I didn't have to rely on it. I WANT TO BREAK THAT BARRIER!

My question is this. Do you have any advice on curing this anxiety disorder? I know there are magical powers in mushrooms so I was considering jumping into just half an eighth to see if something positive occurs. However, I am also wondering if it will end up just giving me a horrible trip and make things worse. Any experience of this sort? Please help because I want to continue my journey to kiss the cosmos!!

*let me note that I still am not sure as of what the lesion was found on my trachea.(a doctor said he strongly feels it is just calcified buildup from an old infection years ago and not to worry.) I plan to get an MRI after I get insurance and get my ultrasound report(fingers crossed!) I constantly feel random pain through my body but I am told it is due to the anxiety. PARANOIA!! The benzo's do ease the pain though.

Don't rely on benzos in the long term, after awhile they just won't work nearly as well and the withdrawels suck.

I also would say to certainly not, jump into mushrooms. Bottom line is no one can really give you an answer if they can help or not. They've helped me at times, they've hurt me at times. Overall they've definitely done more good than bad, but that's me, not you. If you were to do them though do not do them until you figure out if you are dying or something first, there is no need to have that loom over you during a trip. I hope all is well, it sounds like it likely is.

the docotor only had this to say to me the morning after I told him I smoke marijuana:

"you shouldn't smoke. It makes your mouth very dry"

I shall proceed once I find out I am in no harm since the trachea is connected to my lung. these few days will be dreaded until I get results

Benzo's are NOT good anxiety medications except for short term or very rare use. Once a week maybe twice at the MOST.

If you really want to fix your anxiety order you have to go see a specialist. There is no drug in this world that is going to fix the issue. There are some great SSRI's that are going to really help and make a difference (it's your choice to get on these, they are very safe and effective drugs despite what many people on here would love to think). The truth is talking about it and analyzing the root of the disorder is the only thing that is going to allow you to concur it.

Might want to try quiting the ganj for a month or two and see what effect it has. Marijuana is known to increase anxiety, especially in people with already high levels.

I've definitely noticed that cannabis increases my anxiety, but I'm only anxious when I'm meeting new people or people who I know aren't into the scene.

go to therapy, a good therapist if you can. Benzos and ssri's only will make the anxiety numbed for a little while. Therapy will go down and dig up your anxiety from the root. It can take a while though.

My personal opinion is that psychedelics can be a better teacher than any therapist or whoever else. Especially because most of these people have never dealt with anxiety, they just can't understand it.

The mushrooms may show you the root cause of it, and allow you to accept this part of yourself and assimilate it, thus overcoming the anxiety. It's different for everyone. Half an eight is a good starter dose.

Have you tried some meditation? Meditation has done me wonders with overcoming my form of anxiety. If you want some recommendations to get started send me a PM.

I definitely want to take the natural route instead of benzo's or SSRI's. funny..i used to pop a xanax once in a while when offered just to catch a good buzz but now I wish I never have to take one again! Psychedelics have expanded my mind however I can see where it caused some depression and anxiety due to finally noticing how scummy and rotten the planet has become after my first successful trip. I can barely look at a billboard or a commercial without cringing! I do feel however that possibly another trip I can focus on digging deep into ways to dismiss this attitude i have towards corporate america and all this propaganda bull.

Thank you all for suggestions..keeep them coming.

Re: Cures for anxiety? [Re: desiretoheal]
    #10875981 - 08/17/09 12:45 PM (2 years, 9 months ago)

I have a form of social anxiety which I've been treating like so:

1.) Meditation: Slows your body and your breathing down and allows you to control your thoughts. That is the most important part, control how you think, repeat a mantra, and learn to integrate that into action. Meditation is a perfect thing to get addicted to.

2.) 5 htp and Vitamin B-Complex: These are both natural treatments that are fairly cheap and improve mood, stress, and anxiety. 5 htp creates more seratonin in your brain which as you may or may not know is like the social chemical--its what MDMA floods your head with. B-complex, I don't know the neuroscience behind it but it relieves stress too.

3.) Exercise: This is also extremely important, it improves physical, mental, and spiritual well being and gives you something to look forward to. I lift and run in some variation everyday to calm my nerves and leave me feeling healthy and in shape.

4.) Music and walking/driving: Listening to music takes your mind off shit and walking/running/driving takes your mind off your physical task, for me its like floating through life and its wonderful

5.) Psychedelics: I find that psychedelics, although don't cure you, allow you to see your problems and shortcomings with an accepting and somewhat healing perspective. I've recently bought an ayahuasca package and I've been fasting for almost 48 hours now and I'm going to hopefully trip tonight, I've read from multiple sources that ayahuasca can effectively cure depression/anxiety...I suppose at the least I will feel better

hope that helps. But keep in mind the most important thing is to learn to control your life and control your mind. If you can do that the anxiety should ween away...I've noticed serious improvements since I've learned to control my thoughts and actions via metaprogramming.

edit: I'm also going to start yoga when I get back to school where it is offered for free. Oh yeah and one more thing, I'm starting therapy tomorrow so I'm feeling optimistic.

Its funny when I look back on it. I used to be in horrible denial of my anxiety/depression, ignorant of it--I tripped acid for the first time and realized how I had been so negative about everything and life is really a beautiful thing. However, it also made me realize that I constantly seek approval from others because I can't internally approve myself....Meditation has allowed me to recently make massive improvements in this....Its taken me a year now to come to these conclusions about myself and I'm now starting to see wonderful improvement...Just hang in there, let life take its course and do what you can to make yourself and the world a better place. Good luck.

I would recommend psilocybin. I would recommend it in very low doses. For example .5 gram in the mushroom form. would work beautifully. Just enough to wipe out the anxiety yet not enough to feel the effects from it. If you can feel a heavy shroom effect I would lower the dose.

psilocybin works great for anxiety. It works great on anxiety related to chemical dependency withdraw.

Quit the ganja for #1, THC induces anxiety and will do so for the duration of time it is in your body.

Listen to JackOfSpades because s/she is dead on.

Ayahuasca will completely remove your anxiety for the duration of the afterglow which can be anywhere from a day to a month after. It has pretty removed my depression entirely; all traces of DMT/MAOI are out of my system and I do not get sad/low mooded like I used to. It replaces your depressive state with a clear mental state where you have the ability to take action. Of course whether you choose to act is your perogative and that will decide if your anxiety goes away or stays there.

The best way to remove anxiety however is to force yourself out of your comfort zone and put yourself in situations where your anxiety is tested. It comes as a result of lack of reference points from the past where you have socially succeeded. The trick is to simply create reference points in your head where you have put yourself out there and did not fail/be percieved by others in a negative light. You will also have to accept that people can be haters as well.

L-theanine is reported to be extremely good for anxiety but I haven't tried it so I wouldn't know. However it has a very good reputation so look it up.

However the #1 thing is to quit the ganja immediately. There is no point in trying to climb up a mountain when you've placed a giant fan on the top blowing you back down, in much the same way, cannabis will not put you into a state where you have more control over your anxiety, rather it gives the anxiety more control over you. However once you have removed the sober anxiety from your system then ganja will be acceptable although it will always create anxiety, you'll just have to accept that as part of the experience.

You won't have to rely on ANYTHING if and only if you create those social experiences that prove to yourself that you are a human being and your opinion matters, simple as that. Once this is accomplished, subconsciously you will be accustomed to the outside world and little things that would normally cause an anxious reaction in you will cease to do so because you have become thicker skinned.

If I was in your position I'd do everything but my #1 priority would be to hit the ayahuasca because that stuff is unbelievably powerful for mental healing.

the following salvia method cured my severe social anxiety overnight,

40 pairs of leaves (I bought dried leaves which I dehydrated for 10 mins, I wish there was a place that sold fresh ones, if there's one out there please let me know)

no sexual activity of any sort within 3 days, shower before the procedure, take care of all your needs so you won't be disturbed for several hours (urinate, etc)

after brushing and rinsing the mouth with Listerine (brush everywhere.. gums, roof of mouth, etc) eat the leaves in complete darkness and silence following a 10 minute meditation/prayer specifically asking for help for this problem out loud

if you try this please let me know how it went

My brother has been prescribed to benzos for three years...if he stopped taking them would he likely revert back to his anxious self?
