DMT - Australia
    #9341954 - 12/01/08 02:14 AM (15 years, 4 months ago)

I know it's not the best place for this, but I think I'll have better luck here.

A friend of mine is very interested in DMT, and subsequently asked if I can make him some.
I've read many tek's and think I've got it all down. But....

I have asked this before but didn't really get an answer.

Naptha is not sold in Australia, I have asked many hardware/painting shops and most don't even know what it is. I was told 'Shellite' is Aus's version? Can anyone confirm this, as I'd be pretty disappointed if all my efforts went to nothing.

If any Aussie's have done this, some info would be really handy.

naptha is an american word. look on the internet to see what naptha actually is, and then look for australian brands. naptha is just a mixture of simple hydrocarbon chains. it is also known as 'petroleum ether' although it is not actually an 'ether'.

but yer there should be some ppl here who know some good brands

have a look on the dissolvents in your paints-shop. Xylene is the most common solvent for making paint smoother.
Also turpentine sustitue will work.

No everclear here. The closest in 'drinkable' alcohols are Bacardi 151.

We have:

Methalated Spirits ' is a mixture of ethyl alcohol (95%) and methyl alcohol (%5).'

Mineral turpentine 'also known as turpentine substitute, turps substitute, or just turps is an inexpensive petroleum-based replacement for the vegetable-based turpentine. It is commonly used as a paint thinner for thinning oil-based paint and cleaning brushes, and as an organic solvent in other applications.
Mineral turpentine is a hydrotreated light distillate of petroleum, and consists of a complex mixture of highly refined hydrocarbon distillates mainly in the C9-C16 range. The material is a clear transparent liquid at room temperature. The liquid is highly volatile and the vapours are flammable. It can be a very dangerous inhalant.'

Shellite  'has a freeze point less than −30 °C (−22 °F), and a boiling point of 47 °C (117 °F). The composition of shellite is 95% paraffins and naphthenes, less than 5% aromatic hydrocarbons and less than 0.5% benzene. It is highly flammable and due to its low flashpoint is used in many low pressure camping stoves. Shellite is also a fast drying solvent used for cleaning metal, hard plastic and painted surfaces. Ronsonol is a brand name used in North America, and is marketed principally as a refill fluid for cigarette lighters and has a flashpoint of about 6 °C (43 °F).'

I'm pretty sure I've seen Lye around though.

Use zippo lighter fluid - it's naptha.  SWIM did the extraction and it worked fine using this - no residue I heard

Old thread.

But doesn't Shellite leave a residue?

I didn't end up doing the extraction.

I evaped Shellite and it left an oily residue. What I assumed to be aromatic hydrocarbons and benzene.
The idea of eventually smoking that put me off.

Are you speaking from experience that it works?

Forget naphtha, use d-Limonene or 100% orange oil instead. Even better, you can get food-grade d-Limonene and then use edible lime (calcium hydroxide, commonly found at Asian markets) as well for an extraction using only "food-grade" solvents. Credit for this tek goes to ron69 from the DMT-Nexus.

Quote:

Ok, so here you go. Simple as pie.

1 - Powderize your mimosa bark. Mix 100 grams of bark with 25 grams of calcium hydroxide. Add enough water to make it feel wet but not watery. Mix for about 5 minutes.

2 - Add 300 ml of d-limonene. Mix well. Let sit a few hours.

3 - Pour off the d-limonene through a filter.

4 - Add 25 ml of vinegar to the d-limonene. Mix thoroughly.

5 - Separate the vinegar from the d-limonene (the vinegar is at the bottom, the d-limonene at the top). This vinegar will contain DMT acetate. Evaporate your vinegar in a food dehydrator at 155 F to get sticky DMT acetate.

6 - Repeat steps 4 and 5 at least 2-3 times,

7 - Repeat steps 2 - 6 at least 2 times.

By the way, the same tech works for extracting mescaline from cactus. Mescaline acetate is slightly waxy after drying it completely.

For DMT, this produces sticky DMT acetate. DMT acetate will never be dry. It's best for use in ayahuasca.

SAFE d-Limonene and Calcium Hydroxide Extraction

It's also possible to smoke the DMT acetate in SWIM's dog's experience, although it's better to freebase it, multiple methods of which are outlined in the above link. SWIM's dog told him his shaman is planning to freebase his next extraction.
