A bit over an hour ago I found a cube growing from horse dookie. Only one specimen (cube at least) in the area. I'm taking a print right now btw.
Here it is:
   
Note that I've been to this same location many times and this is the first time it's had a cube. I highly doubt I'm the only one hunting here. Everytime I go I see caps of mushrooms broken off laying on the Earth.

You better go back tomorrow in the first pic there is a nice chunky pin, I would have had that.... haha... It also looks like a horse ate some cubes and left some stems behind in that same pic... I noticed today what looked like some shrooms eaten by cows and some were making awful noises, it was rather amusing.

Why are all shrooms that grow out of horse shit shaped like that?
For some reason horse shit makes me uneasy

I don't think all of em are. But you'll notice as you see more and more pics emerge that multiple factors alter the appearance of a mushroom:
The substrate (cow manure vs horse manure vs manmade cakes
Climate
How wet the mushroom actually is at the time of the photo
Etc
There are many, many faces to each species.

OK guys, so I went back out today agan (talking about those older bigger ones)
And picked (or tried to) the best looking ones that I could with the time I had.
I am hoping a couple of these arent those "green biatches" or whatever they are... I am having a hard time telling, but I only saw them briefly and had the pix sent to me..
I appreciate any help..
Again all out in the field around dung, long grass and little tomato trees in this little patch lol...
If a few of these are the "green" kind and they were carried in the same ziplock bag am I better off throwing all of them away?

NOTE***
After looking at a few pix emailed to me I found that a lot were too bright or blurry, so I am requesting more.. I tried to post the best ones.. I am concerned though about the bigger ones.. If I remember right the "green" ones looked almost exactly similar to these as well..

The green spored ones are toxic but I the cubes (assuming there are some present) should suffice. Always use a breathable hunting container such as a PAPER bag or a basket. This allows the mushrooms to breath and preserves them both for photography and identification.

damn... i was thinking they were..
ok so one more time, if they are in the bag with them when i was carrying, or if they are already soaking in saltwater with others.. are the others fuk'd?
Also, do you think those other ones are cubes?
I know, hard to tell from those pix!

like killing bugs or getting them out of the gills.. usually (only picked a few times) put on gloves again and thumb them around..
btw - the "non green" ones were pretty old and had totally blackish gills and black stems.. you can see a little..
what is your opinion on those?

Well the black stems would tell me that they were psychoactive. I have never really notice any cubes that I have ever found that turn completely black on the stems. Copes do, but I am not aware that cubes do. I think I may have just never had any that bruised completely due to the fact that I handle them with extreme care. However, even dry ones that I have found out in the field, their stems were white with light blue stains on them. Blue is a color that cubes are known for bruising. Copes bruise blue also, but a deeper blue, that appears almost black. I would say that the shrooms in the last four pics are psychoactive, possibly cubes. If I were you I would throw everything away that you were not sure of and just keep the ones you know for sure are cubes and then go back out and find ones that you know for sure are active. As for the salt water, the green gills are poisonous and I am not completely sure if soaking them in salt water with the cubes would release it's poisons into the salt water and/or into the cubes.
The blackness could be because of it rotting.

the rotting i am thinking as well as they are at least 3 days old I know and when I saw them 2 days ago it was questionable as well.. the gills are black as well
I may wait for another opinion to throw the rest away if they are in the water with the rest...
I will also be getting better pix of course
