Well, one thing's for sure, at the very least: Terence and Timothy actually lived, Jesus and Buddha? who the fuck knows!?
So in that sense, Terence and Tim did way more for us than the other two. Plus, Terence and Tim advocated a practice that actually gives results, a practice that can be analysed and repeated in a lab so that it can be documented and explored with a scientific methodology.
The other two didn't. All that they claimed is based on faith, not quantitative methods.
Didn't Buddha claim that the Four Noble Truths could be empirically verified through life experience?

No, a couple of books had this written in them and those four noble truths do not requite spiritual achievement to know them, they only require philosophical thinking and life contemplation.
The place where psychedelics get us, on the other hand, cannot be reached by philosophical/analytical thought but they can be reproduced on demand and studied, unlike any other religious experience claimed to be possible by various gurus.

Sure, but my point is that the Four Noble Truths supposedly do not require faith, unlike Jesus' teachings.

Right, I see your point, but the four noble truths are only part of the buddhist doctrine, some other areas requiring faith.

Did the original teachings of Buddha involve faith or were the more religious trappings added later?

As I understand it (I'm no expert on Buddhism), he encouraged people to look within themselves to find the same enlightenment as he did.

That's a very good question! We could ask the same of any prophet's or saint's teachings but to my mind, the most important question is to ask if these guys actually existed.
In any case, whether they did or not, I do think that corruption eventually gets to any spiritual teachings as it is transmitted from generation to generation. This is one of the main reasons why I value psychedelics that much.

I agree ^^. Spirituality/Truth + Corruption = Religion.
If we as a planet could see the difference that spirituality vs religion has had on the world, we would be alot better off.
