World Spirit said: One can easily take for example a mycelium cake of cubensis and instead of fruiting it indoors simply plant it in topsoil as-is (anywhere outside you can imagine, preferrably with a bit of shade though). You can crumble it and scatter it too.
Outdoor beds have NEVER been popular in Florida for no real reason except we are all fucking lazy motherfuckers. It is probable that Psilocybe cyanofriscoso could be inoculated into alder chips and layed to rest in aims for an outdoor bed that was actually perennial. No of you will try though. That's right. Not one of you. (Hint of antagonism but still very sarcastic language used here).
I agree. Many times I think cultivation can be easier than hunting, especially for beginners.
I've seen a simple, inconspicuous outdoor bed created by laying down some cardboard in the shade, a bag of store-bought cow manure sandwiching (below and on top) a few jars of grain spawn, then lightly covered with a mulch of dead grass. This bed massively flushed more than a dozen times with large fruit before petering out. My friend had so many mushrooms he got tired of picking and drying them lol! And I bet it could have been made to perpetually fruit if a little manure was added and the conditions right (or watered regularly).
For an easy way to start cultivating from wild specimens check out spore slurry or stem butt spawn. Stamets describes this in detail in his books Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushroom and Mycelium Running (awesome book by itself). Good luck!
EDIT: oops forget to mention outdoor bed had some light mulch on top and sandwiched manure inbetween spawn

Umm you found cow shit or ground up mushrooms?
Weird...
Does anyone here ask land owners to go browse their fields?
I'm worried that they'd say fuck no!

It was ground up mushrooms.. Mushroom Chocolate Recipe by 352_hippieflip Also I was shrooming next to this mans house while it was raining, Next thing I know my shirt is full of caps and I hear "Hey Come Here!" I turned to see a man 30ft behind me. I walked up to him and Said "Sorry sir for shrooming in your front yard, But its that Season. I will never come back again! in less your want to make $3,000 this Summer!?" He replied "You have 10mins before the Sheriff gets here." So he did not take the offer and I ran to my car. But all you can do is ask, And all they can say is No.

I wonder if there are more species out there waiting to be discovered and we simply aren't putting enough hours and work into the process.

I'd like to do that, but I don't like chocolate...guess I'll stick to my smoothies
It is a great recipe though especially if I liked chocolate.
I think the main reason I don't like chocolate is that it doesn't mix well with beer
for real

Smoothies? Do you just ground them up in a smoothie? That is a great idea!
I LOVE smoothies!

shroomgatherer said: I had time to indulge in some field picked Ps. Cubensis this weekend and found the best way EVER to consume them (at least for me).
Get your blender out. Add a tray of ice cubes. Spin blender until ice is smooth and chunky.
Cut up mushrooms with scizzors into very small pieces (or coffee grind them - I don't have a coffee grinder).
Spread small pieces of shrooms out and add enough lemon juice to lightly cover them (lemon tek...lemon juice activates the active compounds in the mushrooms). After a minute or 2 add them to the blender.
Add some Gatoraide to blender, add 1 banana, and a couple strawberries. Add some ginger ale or moutain dew or juice. Also toss in a few chewable vitamin C's(500mg's about 3 of them).
Voila. You can't even taste the shrooms. The mixture tastes AWESOME, especially in this Florida heat. Next thing you know your having FUN!
Try it and let me know what you think. It tastes friggen great!
This is the recipe that I posted earlier on this thread!
Try it out...it's awesome!

As a smoothie expert I suggest pre-freezing your fruit instead of using ice. You'll get a creamier and less watery smoothie and it'll still be ice cold. Also I suggest apple juice instead of gatorade/mountain dew/whatever as it is a very naturally sugary juice which tastes awesome in a strawberry/banana smoothie.
Thanks for the idea! This is definitely how I'm gonna be doing my next trip.

That's cool, let me know how it works for ya.
I don't drink much juice so I prefer the gatoraide and ginger ale.
Try this just for a morning spritzer - 1/2 cup of Vitamin water + 1/2 cup of Ginger Ale (on the rocks) + squeeze a twist of lime = it's awesome and I drink it EVERY morning. Most of the time I use gatoraide instead of Vitamin Water but they both taste good.
Also 1/3 cup of RUM + 1/3 cup of Vitamin Water + 1/3 cup of Ginger ale + a twist of lime = Awesome morning drink on your day off! I'm sure vodka or other liquors work just as well.
Personally I like the Bacardi Grandmelon + Gatoraide Melon + ginger ale + lime.

Mmm.. I haven't been drinking much lately but just the mention of those drinks makes me want to go grab some rum or maybe tequila for mixing.

Oh and the reason I suggested the apple juice over ginger ale or gatorade is that it doesn't have high fructose corn syrup in it.
Fructose-based sugars have been linked to health problems, despite what the corn lobby wants you to believe. Look at all the obesity and diabetes in this country since everything has been converted over to HFCS in the past 20 years or so.

I went out to a field that I frequent the other week and brought back some horse shit that had mycellium underneath it. I crumbled it all up and threw it outside in front of my porch where a ton of wood chips are. Just checked on them Sunday and I had one cube fully grown and at least 20+ pins. YAY! I have been out of town since Sunday and won't be back to check on them until tomorrow. Hopefully my apartment hasn't had landscaping come while I was gone. They would most likely be destroyed if they had. Guess we will know tomorrow! I will take pics and post
