I just recently heard about this 'Nitrous Mafia' here on the shroomery and at first thought it was fake and just a joke. But after hearing more about it and doing some searching I've found out that it's real.

These cats are cool with me. I always hang out next to them and when people let go of their balloons and fall out I grab the balloons as they fly away.

Oh my gosh...I'm glad this thread was made, it brought a big smile to my face. The nitrous mob was operating right next to our tent all weekend at Bonnaroo. Their non-stop kindergarten chess match with the police, their ringleader's thick Brooklyn accent, just their presence in general made for so many hilarious laugh till your eyes are watering moments. Unfortunately I don't have any stories about them that translate well to written word, but they made Bonnaroo that much greater.  Thanks fellas

NosMaf set up HQ behind our tent at All Good! Everything was amazing until they showed up.
My friend busted out a cracker so we didn't have to buy off the NosMaf. Security heard it and thought we had a tank. Before we knew it security + cops + some guy flashing a Homeland Security badge bust the door handle off of my friends car. They eventually found the keys and got into the car only to find bupkis. We were rolling fucking face at the time too! OMFG!
Someone was definitely being bribed though. When the first security guy started giving us the hassle we pointed out a guy carrying a big cylindrical backpack and said, "look, that guy's got a fucking tank on his back!" The security guy saw it and denied that he was suspicious at all.
After missing the late night umphrey's set because of all that bs we just sat at our camp on top of our hill and proceeded to watch the NosMafia run tanks all morning. Apparently the main refill tank was directly behind our car... go fucking figure.
Absolutely fucking ridiculous! Crazy experience! Really ruined the weekend but I wouldn't trade it for anything!

The whole weekend afterward we kepts getting way too conspiritorial. We were strolling down shakedown passing Narcs, DHS, and Gangsters alike yelling "DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY RUNS THE NITROUS MAFIA!"
We cut it out once some creepy katz started trailing us through shakedown...

We saw plenty of tanks at Phish Alpine, probably not like the east coast, but enough...but one of my boys said that balloons were going for way more that $5...can that be right?

FUCK the nitrous mafia. I love festivals but they are ruining the scene. I've about had it up to here with fat lardass redneck bearded wifebeaters pretending to be hippies for a weekend selling balloons from tanks they jacked from the back of a hospital dumpster.

I love how hippies think everything is so organized...Nitrous mafia, The Family, Hippy mafia...whatever you call it.
People know who they know, and work with folks they can trust...to think there is any more sinister organization to the whole thing (the suggestion that this thread makes) is very funny
I guaruntee ther is more "organization" to your local weed scene/chain than there is to all the randoms that have been bringing tanks on tour through the years.

No dude. Trust me, there was like a fucking crew of 15 neegs and spics running the tanks around and selling balloons, and some white dudes were collecting all the money and sitting on the main tank. We listened to them argue over their money and brag about how tight their crew was all fucking morning.
They had cars holding places when the festy started, and we were there when they switched them out with the cars carrying the tanks. I was told by staff that security was actually pulled from our area because this gang had complete control over the hill.
There were runners, there were look out scouts, there were refill stations, there were DEFINITELY bribed security people. It was VERY organized!
Are there multiple nitrous gangs? Of course. Are they loosely affiliated? Who the fuck knows. It seems to be an east coast thing. The dudes selling the jumbo fatties, I was told, were from boston. The cars used had plates from several states in the area.
And call me paranoid, but if DHS is targeting organized crime, it can only be because they're trying to control it themselves.

Okay. Ill give you that within the context of the job, which does require a bit of man power they are organized. Running a tank takes a crew that slanging from a backpack full of drugs doesnt.
Its the multiple gangs part that Im saying is ture. There is no ONE NO2 mafia. There are as many crews as there are places to get tanks filled and people and cars to work them. Go figure they are protective of they're turf...
